Dose ALT F4-ing corrupt saves
So i got invade and decied i didint want to deal with it since im doing pve, so i quit out via Alt F4, and then reloaded my save and had FA lost progress, then a couple minutes later the game crashed, so i reloaded the game and my file to find myself back at the bondfire with minimal progress lost, but that did make me worry, so can ALT F4-ing corrupt saves and if so what other ways are there to avoid pvp?

I don't know how far you've progressed in the game but once you get to the undead church, you can go down into the forest and kill the moonlight butterfly boss which will give you the key to the lower undead burg and allow you to fight the Capra demon which gives you the key to the depths. Only a bit farther inside, you'll see a butcher looking dude chopping meat with a huge knife. There are 2 of these monsters in the area that you need to kill. One of them will drop an item called the "sack". It's a head piece. At first glance, with only 6 defense, it might seem like a pointless item and that's because it is. But you can always wear a bag over your head if things get too scary.

Aside from being a coward's way out of a game mechanic.... Yes, alt+f4 CAN corupt saves. The game randomly saves at times, and using a windows function that is not part of the game can and has ruined entire game saves. It is not limited to the character you were using. It will corrupt the save totally, and 100% of all characters will be lost. I wish it happened more often, but I guess if you want to take a risk of total loss versus an invasion (which you could win) that is your choice.

If you want to avoid invasions, you must either stay hollow or play offline. These are the only ways to avoid invasions. This is a game mechanic. The game does not care if you feel that you are only PVE. Invasions are a mechanic. If you want to summon help, you also risk invasion. It is plain and simple.

i dont want to pvp because im playing a character NOT DESIGHED FOR PVP because i just want to get through the game, wich if im not mistaken, playing pvp with out a pvp build is a recipe for disaster and just a way to lose souls.

It does not matter what your feelings are. You either need to play offline or stay hollow. It is not your choice, as it is a gameplay mechanic......Like it or not.

You only lose souls if you cannot recover your corpse and die a second time. This is a gameplay mechanic.

how do i play offline? how?

and i dont want to pvp simply because if you dont specificly plan your build to be pvp viable (wich i didn't) you will be destroyed. and besides i dont like ramdom people wandering into my world when im trying to be imersed, it breaks my imersion.

I do not mean this in a negative connotation, but it does not matter how you feel about invasions. They are part of the game. The game does not think about your play style or your build. If you are human and online, you risk the chance of being invaded. Period. This is as much part of the game as equipping a weapon. If you make the choice to become human, you also make the choice to accept that you could be invaded. There is no picking and choosing. Being human affords you the option of "easy mode" where you can summon help, but the flip side of the coin is that you can be invaded. There is no other way about it. You do not have to like it, but it is what it is.

If you want to play "offline" you need to start the game, then at the title screen disconnect from your internet....either through windows or by physically unplugging it.

But it gets you scared and being scared is fun in its own way, like an adrenaline rush. One time I was walking alone at night in the streets of Detroit when I noticed a guy with a hoodie had been following me for quite some time over quite a few blocks. Detroit is notorious for its high crime rates and one of the murder hotspots of the world. My heart started racing so I decided to pick up the pace. As I turned to look back, I noticed my stalker was getting faster. That's when I decided to jet and run as fast as I could but the other guy darted straight for me and quickly closed the distance. When he caught up to me, I turned and raised my fists in self defense. This guy had his hands in his hoodie and pulled out a switch blade. I thought "oh crap I'm dead" as he took a swing at me but I got a lucky punch in and managed to grab his arm with my other hand and break his grip on the knife. Wasting no time I kicked him to the ground, grabbed the knife and raised my hand in the air to stab him. Then my assailant said "Wait! I just wanted you to know this is the most fun I ever had." "Me too" I said, then I plunged the steel into his chest and he died. Good times.

Also keep in mind, that not all invaders are "pvp builds" per se. Because the game matches invaders with similar level hosts, the stats are in the same ballpark. Skill wins invasions, not a character build.

*Edit*

These are some of my favourite discussions. I enjoy explaining the double edged sword that is Humanity. If you want/need help you risk invasions. There are a few battles that you can summon NPC help offline or online, but if you are in "offline mode" you will not be able to summon real players.

Thats the real moral of the story. You never choose the pvp life. The pvp chooses you.

My Piromancy Glove +15 and my Black Flame Piromancy really think different invading in Sen's Fortress. Only use it when the Host has company tho. Honor commands.

You can also have a homeward bone displaying in your quick inventory slot and it will gray out if someone is attempting to invade. There's plenty of time to just quit the game before they actually invade, that way you don't have to alt-f4.
