What is dead angling?
I keep hearing about it but have no clue what it is. How do I avoid it and the cheap backstabs is brings? Also, how do I jump on doing it myself?

Dead angling is hitting an opponent in a certain angle to negate their blocking. Very popular thing to do with great scythe. Only way to avoid it is to know when it's coming and not allow opponents to get into that position.

It can be also done with a claymore or bast ard sword. You just need the right timing and position.
Its cheap most of the time, but when the openent is a turtling havels with 1000000 endurence, it can help out.

My understanding of dead angling is to basically face away from your opponent and swing a weapon with a large, horizantal swipe. The aim is to hit them with either the start or end of the swing. The reason this works is because the game doesn't register a block when a weapon visually hits a shield, but when a player faces another player, swings the sword and the receiving player has their shield up. Dead angling takes advantage of the fact that the game considers the angle the two players are facing each other the most important variable.

Nothing's worse in Dark Souls than the flipping PvP duelists. Special place in video game hell reserved for them

Curved sword or a straight sword will put a stop to those kind of players, or atleast force them to try and actually perform attacks other than spamming their flips and roll attacks.

Next....

I normally do, but even so still really annoying hosts when I invade. Although I did have a host that just ran away and used WoG on the stairs in Anor Londo
