Please allow this version to be purchased too even if it needs to be played offline
I know it might seem like a stretch, but I love ds1/dsr and hope to be able to own this game and add it to my steam library with workshop support and all. This version would be great to play around with offline but could definitely use some touch-ups as I'm not sure dsfix still works in 2024.

The dsfix is still working. This is not the right place to write about it. None of the official spokespeople show up here.

You dont love Dark Souls if you say that you also love demaster.
You're delusional to think otherwise, they won't add it back, especially with workshop (can't understand why you need that, using mods is easy)

Where can I obtain dsfix, and it is permitted?
I'm the guy who just figured out the controller is my friend (wow so much better :steamfacepalm:), and I've had this product since '13 I think.
I've used mods elsewhere - I don't have a burning desire to use them tbh. I'd like to explore mods more though with DARK SOULS™: Prepare To Die Edition. Again provided it's acceptable to do so.

Not only is it permitted, there is no cheater ban system on the PTDE version.
EVERYONE who played the PTDE version probably used DSFix. Also the game is abandonware, so if you already own the demaster, you might as well use whatever means you can think of to obtain the PTDE version without worrying about corporate terms like "ethics" and "morals."

Who would ban you in a game where the server is officially closed ?

You can get dsfix and other mods at nexus mods.

The best mod for keyboard + mouse, if you still suddenly want to try the usual control. There are no problems at all.

OK not with this again... (。>﹏<。)
Yes, DSR <should> have been different, but if all you know is DSR then it is still a great game.

While I wanted to thank you to both of you, Sealer Moon & Наёмник; with regard to 5persondude's Guide (ty for including that too before), I had a question or two. Quickly, when it says to:

"Open up the "DSFix.ini" text document and edit the following options:"...

1.Does that mean before hand? Or after I've dropped them into the game directory? I cannot see how it'd make a difference as no doubt the game's not running while I'm doing this.

2.RESOLUTION...
In the .ini file I noticed that renderWidth etc., is listed first.
Followed by presentWidth, and in between there's "# 0 means us the same res..."
So my question is do I have to put 1920x1080 in both places or not?

The above is my native setting @ 60hz, so there's little for me to do except unlocking the framerate.
I don't mean to knit-pick at all - I used to say I knew enough about all this to be dangerous, and these days it's a disaster waiting to happen if I don't follow instruction to the letter generally.

Grateful for your help once again. Cheers.

1. You need to throw it next to darksouls.exe, change it there. If you don't know if dsfix is working, switch antialiasing in the game, if the picture will shrink, then dsfix working.

2. presentWidth and presentHeight are needed to lock the resolution of the game, and render can be changed to a lower one. If you have a powerful hardware, and do not need to remove the load on gpu in this way, then presentWidth and presentHeight can not be touched, leave 0 as it is written there.

Thank you.
In this rig there's an i9 / 3.70GHz / 10(cores) and an NVIDIA 2070 Super.
I don't know for sure (and I should have checked yesterday when I was in the game), but I think some time ago I turned AA off in-game.

Brief edit post application of the mod:
I applied dsfix and it's clear as Glass. I turned on aa for a sec and the picture shrank way down so... just like you described. That, and using controller now makes it a brand new game - WoW! ty all the help guys )
Also ty OP for not getting steamed over me carrying on in your thread - ty too ))
