Sif + Alvina

Hello! So, I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. Do you remember those huge Alvina-ish things in Darkroot Garden? Great Felines.

Assuming (well, we can never be sure) that Sif is male and Alvina is female... do you see what I see? Sif + Alvina = Great Felines. Mother's looks, father's size and fur colour (great GREY wolf).

Am I seriously the only person that see this? Or am I just crazy?

From the wiki: "Sif's sex is never actually specified, although the name Sif itself is a female name of Norse origin, so Sif's sex is likely female. However, since it is contentious, neutral pronouns (or alternate pronouns for clarity's sake) will be used here."

Well Sif is a dog, which already makes this impossible and ridiculous. We also cannot be sure that Sif is male, since it is never once refered by gendered nouns/pronouns in the game. This ambiguity is common among Japanese RPGs, especially Dark Souls. Even the few characters with referenced genders, are only a result of faulty translations. Two examples of this can be seen in the Souls series. The butchers in Dark Souls 1 are called "he" in the English version of the Official Strategy Guide, but "she" in the Japanese version. In Dark Souls 2, the Throne Watcher is refered as a "he" in the English version, "she" in the German version, but in the original Japanese version, gender is never stated.

It is also worth noting that "Sif" is a female norse name which derives from the word "sifjar", meaning "affinity or connection by marriage". There is also a goddess named Sif (wife of Thor, and diety of Earth, Prosperity, and Fertility). I think this is the reason why Sif's gender is so controversial.

The wikia and wikidot references Sif's gender ambiguity.

But hey, Great Felines look like Alvina and there was a father somwhere, right? Alvina and Sif were friends once, why not more? Sif was always a male for me. It's japanase - just imagine dog/cat romance! :D

P.S. Great game, just beat it twice in a row and now I have almost all achievements!

Why do they have to be Alvina's children? I'm pretty sure the Great Felines are just members of the Darkroot Garden wildlife. I don't think they are in any way related to Alvina, other than species. Despite what Japanese stereotyping may lead you to believe, I don't see this game having cat/dog sex in it.

Also the big issue I have with this logic, is that you can pretty much connect anything in this game when they don't need to be. You could say that Saint Elizabeth and Hawkeye Gough got together and made the mushroom people; or that Priscilla is a result of Gwynevere and Seath somehow having awkward scaly sex, despite Seath having razor sharp crystals coming out of his seemingly neutered crotch; or that Manus made out with Dusk to make Nashandra. It all starts to sound out of place in a Souls game.
