Anyone know how to compile DSFix?
So there have been some new commits to DSFix back in January that fix an issue with stuttering/freezing when loading custom textures and correct the save backup feature for the Steam version of the game.

Does anyone know how to compile new binaries or could be so kind to provide instructions on how to do so? Someone tried contacting the developer through the issue tracker on GitHub in order to release a new version containing the fixes, but so far he hasn't replied.

Edit:
Huge thanks to zing for compiling and uploading an updated binary! Rename the old DINPUT8.dll in your Dark Souls DATA directory and replace it with this[drive.google.com] one.

In order to reduce stuttering when using custom textures, add the following line to your DSfix.ini file:
enableTexturePrefetch 1

Did you read DEVREADME?[github.com]

Requirements
============

- Visual C++
- The DirectX SDK
- Microsoft Detours (Express) 3
- DSfix must be compiled in the Release/Win32 config to work with the game

Note that Visual Studio has to be 2012 or above or you're gonna have to muck around with a bunch of obscure stuff to make it build...

I know nothing about coding but this has my attention. I thought i had turned on automatic back ups in the ini config file but now that i checked my saves folder i see none after having played for several hours.

I would very much appreciate if someone shared an updated version of DSfix.

You can try the version I compiled from this link[drive.google.com]. Just rename the original DINPUT8.dll and replace with this one. It works for me but YMMV.

Thank you so much! Going to give it a try now.

So far everything seems to be working without any issues. Haven't noticed any stuttering when using custom textures (not yet atleast). Auto save backup feature is working as well :)

Remember to add the following line to DSfix.ini to enable texture prefetching:
enableTexturePrefetch 1

I'll update the first post with the link to the new binary.

That's not good. I tried summoning others and being summoned myself several times to see if I could reproduce the crash, but nothing happened.

Has anyone else tested it?

I removed the new dll and replaced it with the old one and deleted the extra bit from dsfix and it fixed it, only now its back to the way it used to crash which is randomly every few minutes or hours.
