Darkwood grain ring not working

I've seen it said that you ninja flip if wearing this ring and below 50% equip load. But there is no difference for me between wearing the ring and not wearing the ring. Am I doing something wrong?

my equip load is 35.7 and the max is 79.2

Edit: Ok learned that a patch made it to below 25%. Thanks for the help

Its below 25% equip load. It was below 50% pre-patch, but it proved OP.
