cant get my controller to work

it works on steam big picture but when i get into the game it doesnt work anymore. does anyone know a work around?

Some general troubleshooting steps for controller-issues with this game:

• If you are using an xinput (XBOX) or Dual-Shock (PlayStation) controller, disable all software, related to input devices, that may be running in the background, like Steam Input, x360ce, XBOX Game Bar, companion apps for KB&M or keypads (e.g. "Razer Stream Controller")
  
• If you are using an off-brand controller, try the "Generic Controller Configuration Support" option of Steam's controller settings
  
• Make sure only one input device is connected to your computer at a time, excluding KB&M (e.g. 2nd controller, Steering Wheel, etc)
  
• Disable 3rd-party controller drivers. Go to "Device Manager" and under "Input Devices", disable all entries of "HID-Compliant Game Controller" or non-generic sounding names (e.g. "vJoy")

You can try this (it worked for me):

you can plug in controller before or during game booting loading screen. But DO NOT PRESS any button on keyboard or controller before game fully loaded and you get to main menu. Maybe try plug in controller when you get to main menu (again don't press anything before that point )

Might not work on 1st try. It seem weirdly depends when you plug in controller and pressing any keys or buttons somehow mess up/overrides connection with the controller during loading

I dont want controller but needed play with it coz even I install dsfix mousecursor dont leave screen and sensitive was extremly....

I dont know what I have do now but all feels great play with k/m....

i think there is a controller override option in the menu if you right click the game in properties?
