Why does dusk of oolacile's summon sign go away once you get the broken pendant?
Now she is gone for my game cycle because i got the broken pendant before summoning her

http://darksouls.wikia.com/wiki/Dusk_of_Oolacile
"After killing the golem, Dusk will be available as a summon sign that should be on the ground right before entering the lake of the Hydra. Reverse hollowing is not required to summon her (her summon sign vanishes after the Chosen Undead obtains the Broken Pendant)."

Because once you get the pendant story things happen and she's gone. You can buy all of her items from another vender in the DLC though.

She got captured back to the timeline she came from, you have to go save her, ie the DLC "Artorias of the Abyss".

To access the DLC, simply go back to where you've rescued her in the first place, there should be a black orb of something. By interacting with the orb you will be entering the DLC content.

Don't worry not being able to get out, considering as long as you have the Lordvessel you can teleport out whenever you access the bonfires there. However what you should watch out for is your gear (your weapon really, the game doesn't really care about your armour) and maybe your level. The DLC is pretty end game stuff so if you don't have the skill and the upgraded weapons it expects you to have, you're gonna be in for a tough ride.

If you can manage to get past Sanctuary Guardian that is guarding the Oolacile Sanctuary, Elizabeth who resides in Oolacile Sanctuary should provide all the same wares Dusk would sell to you.

Once the DLC's main boss is defeated, Dusk would come back to be able to be summoned at the lakeside just fine. However do note that Oolacile, the DLC region, is a common high level pvp ground, so if you plan to go pvp without going into NG+ then you should not kill the final boss, as killing region bosses makes you unable to be invaded for that region (though you can still invade others).

I've beaten this game before
Why does she get captured the very moment i pick up the broken pendant?

Am i supposed to pretend that she would have been captured after so much ingame time has passed regardless of picking up the broken pendant?

They needed a method for people to access the DLC you know.

The script goes as follows: Chosen Undead picks up an unknown broken pendant that seems to be from an age long time ago. Chosen Undead brings the item to Dusk to let her examine it only to realise that she can no longer be summoned. Nearby, there is a crack on the very dimension itself, confused, the Chosen Undead touched the dimensional distortion. Meanwhile Manus, who was upturned from his grave, madly sought for the last remaining token that reminds him of who he really is, detected the familiar presence he was looking from an age far beyond. But it's not like he gives 2 ♥♥♥♥ and so he grabbed you across the rift and drag you into the era of Oolacile.

As for why he captures Dusk? Nobody knows, but as an entity that embodies human nature down to his last fibre, it's not hard to imagine why he wouldn't want to capture Dusk considering she is that last human-looking chick in that entire area by the time Manus was awoken.

are you seriously asking that question? they are called scripted events for a reason. the type of gameplay that you are refering to is very rarely used. to me the most notable is the stalker games where events not relating to he story line occur with out you having to be anywhere near them. other than that scripted still rules the roost of game design

@blue world:

isnt dusk the princess of Oolacile? i can imagine that if manus's legions wanted to truly conquer the kingdom the capture of the princess would be necesary.

Huh, now it sounds like a zelda/mario game

I don't think Manus was really thinking of that.

He was just upturned from his grave and his presence alone drove everybody mad and mutated almost all of the people around him. I think he really was just thinking on the aspect of human needs (he IS the most "human" entity after all, hell his own soul is just a twisted picture of a humanity sprite) and thinks "♥♥♥♥ there are still chicks around, let's get 'em".

On the other hand, Artorias (the strongest fighter of the 4 knights) was dispatched to save Dusk, ordered by Gwyn to do so because she is a princess, and that Oolacile is on the verge of being destroyed.

The citizens of Oolacile didnt get corrupted or mutated from Manus but instead was put into that state by the Abyss itself just like what happened to Artorias. They cant withstand the Abyss like the 'Humans' can

Timeflow is convolted in Lordran. You are supposed to pretend if you can't see her sign then she is unable to assist you due to being in danger. Thats all

Well, Manus is kinda the core of the Abyss. The Abyss is created when there is a very VERY strong gathering of humanity. Manus already has a very strong humanity inside of him, on top of that he also for some reason seems to be able to call to and gather all the lost humanity spites to his side to be used at his disposal (I guess that make sense since that's really what we do as a human species), creating that giant mass of Darkness that drove everybody mad in Oolacile.

Manus is the Father Of The Abyss. The humanity sprite existed from him if the 'lore speculation' is correct about him being the Furtive Pygmy. They broke him when he lost his pendant, making him into what he is now.The pendant was the only thing keeping him sane when they 'allegedly' experimented on him iirc.He holds it dearly so it is no surprise that he goes batshit crazy when he lost it.

I wouldn't say that Manus is indeed the Pygmy themselves, but rather either a descendent of them, or that anybody could become a Manus if they were put into his positions of implied endless tortures. But yes you're right.

It is interesting how when Manus was defeated, his soul split into different pieces, giving birth to Nashandra,Elana,Nadalia and Alsana in DS2

It's implied that he was a human before his humanity went 'wild' as he seek his precious pendant
