1. He falls off the cliff behind him when he is in Darkroot and dies from it.
2. He contracts the poison when he's moved to Blighttown and dies from it.
From Soft really doesn't like his guts you see...
Ha, he was originally supposed to hollow and become a villain. A really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy one obsessed with the color red. They recorded the audio but they couldn't fit the quest in.
But hey, Dark Souls did turn out to be a gem so not much complaint there. That said, Demonic Ruins/Lost Izalith and TotG imo are still pretty garbage when compared to the rest of the game due to their unfinishness. Oh well.

I hope in, like a couple years this game gets a special edition or somethin.
That, plus all the areas (the most beatiful ones IMHO) and quest lines that you are very likely to miss on NG. They got guts at From Soft when you think of it.
A long Katana is the Washing Pole. But I think you mean the Mura as it's Shiva's weapon
The simplest way to farm it is to farm it off the giant skeleton in the graveyard next to the Fireline Shrine.
There are 2 giant skeletons in that graveyard.
The drop rate is about 2% which is rather low, so pop some humanity and be patient.
