It's not a good game if you play it soon after DS 1. It does....a lot of things oddly.
Like changing the long jump from "B" to "L3". And making the jumps look less interesting. Your character just hops, they don't look like they're REALLY putting all they have into the jump anymore.
...what.
Well, that doesn't fix the numerous other issues I have with the game.
But how did I miss that?
Can you please give me more reasons to support your opinion? I'm a big fan of Dark Souls series even though I haven't even finished Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition... I'd like to buy Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin. I played some vanilla DS2 at my friends' and I didn't find it bad/lacking. What did I miss that you find negative about DS2?
My negatives for DS 2: SoTFS
~The world is not interconected in a smart way like the first, the areas I've reached feel like long hallways rather than the huge "open world" the game had before. DS one is like...a circle, with many lines in it to conect the world all over.
~You are relevant in the first few minutes of the game. In the first, it took a while before you were relevant at some point, following (or ignoring altogether) Frampt or the Darkstalker. The old women in the intro of the game do indeed do a good job of "you are not relevant" but the Emerald Hag turns that completely around by flat out telling you to go meet some king and do something about him, having JUST met her. On top of this, you CANNOT level up normally in DS 2. You HAVE to talk to her by warping to the town's bonfire. And every time she speaks, she spouts "you are the fated one to do the thing" every damn time you just want to level up.
~Estus Flasks take a back seat to easily obtainable Lifegems. Also, Estus Flasks start off at "1" use instead of "5".
~Humanity is gone, and replaced with effigies. No more passively raising your defenses and loot find, you HAVE to find other ways to do so.
~You gain warping immediately, and not when obtaining a "lordvessel-like" item of any kind. No reason is given for your ability to warp around the world.
~Weapon durability is done wrong in my eyes, everything gets destroyed too fast. On top of this, my RINGS have durability now?! What gives?! DS 1 had everything way too far buffed for most to worry about repairs, but DS 2 went way too far with the "health" your weapons have.
~This is a personal thing, but I cannot bother to care for the characters in the town, ESPECIALLY the Emerald hag woman. I cannot remember anyone's names, while I can easilly recall many others from Dark Souls.
~You cannot start off as a Pyromancer. They give you the middle finger and you cannot obtain Pyromancy until two-three bosses in the game.
I could say a little more, but I'm just not feeling motivated to give a ♥♥♥♥ for more reasons I don't like DS 2.
The controls are exactly the same as they were for Dark Souls 3. Please elaborate.
I prefer B for all my "acrobatic" actions. It's easier for me.
The buttons are the same but the feeling of movement or jumping just isn't there. It feels like you can't dodge anything and it's overall really strange
