Best sword build for a strength Knight?
So I'm a level 46 Knight, using heavy armor/medium slow roll and while I have a variety of weapons, the Drake Sword has been my main (and I haven't found anything to top it, relly) all along. I just got to Anor Londo (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blighttown) and I have the mats to ascend / updgrade weapons now. I know I'll need to replace it soonish (my strength/endurance are 26, dex 18) but I'm not sure what I should upgrade to. Whats the best weapon for someone in my position? I was thinking of going back to the Asylum to get the sword from that from the beginning of the game. This is my first playthrough, though, and I'd like to get myself set with a decent weapon I can ascend/upgrade for a good long while.

Right now I have a drake scale, green titanite, twinkling titanite, a moth soul, and a few other mats. moth soul is useless, though, because all of its upgrades scale with INT.

I read that basically all the magic upgrade paths are useless for as strength build, and my best option is to get something solid like a broadsword and upgrade it to +15 normal damage. I feel like using a vendor bought weapon and investing a bunch of titanite in it might be a bad idea, so I guess what I'm asking is: what sword should I seek out and how should I upgrade it for a sword/shield strength character?

Thanks in advance for any advice, I've never played a game like this for longer than an hour (I used to get really frustrated with Onimusha on the PS2) but something about Dark Souls just hooked me, and I want to make sure my ♥♥♥♥ is viable so I can maybe even beat the game.

Lose the drakesword. I mean that quite literally. Drop it on the ground and kill your character so the weapon is gone and you can't go back to it, it is trash.

Now, for a strength build usually hammer weapons are going to scale with strength better than most other weapons. But your strength and dex are pretty close together so a quality weapon would be a good choice as well. A lot of people like the claymore because it does good damage, has a sweet moveset, and attacks pretty quickly. Alternatively you could go with the classic longsword which also has an excellent move set but doesn't do quite as much damage, but attacks much more quickly and is lighter.

After you pick a weapon, upgrade it to at +10 as soon as possible, upgrades are way more important than levels in terms of damage output.

Drake Sword... plz.

Pick any weapon whose moveset you like with a strength scaling of B or better. Even C is fine, although it'll probably have the same scaling for Dex so you'd want to stay where you are at strength (assuming you two hand it) and pump points into dex. Upgrade it to +10.

As knight (pure melee strenght) I've used the claymore +5 light for my entire NG.
Now I'm having fun with a badass +15 greatsword, also trying +15 longsword, pretty cool too !
Just pick a weapon you like :-)

Chaos +5 Zweihander
+15 Man-Serpent Greatsword is remarkably good for pure strength builds.

why?
imho every vendor weapon is better than drake sword though it might be boring not having to cut shoot any tails for them

If u like drake sword (despite its poor lenght) I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than Claymore/"Baasted" sword, rather stick with longsword or a katana (nmight even kill someone to get one if u don't like to buy :-P)

I really like the Demon Greathammer and the Greataxe.

Thanks for the advice, guys, I really like the broadsword so I think I'm gonna upgrade that to +15. That or the Longsword, still deciding, since the Drake Sword is still top for me after an upgrade brougth it up to 220 dmg

The drakesword is not top, a +10 broadsword or +10 longsword will easilly out class a +2 drake sword.

I guess I'm just looking at damage amounts - the drakesword does nearly 100 more damage than my +6 Broadsword. Is it when you take speed into account that broad/long swords start to perform better at +10?

How can I get enough large titanite to get to that +10, anywho? It seems pretty scarce

The large titanite will come.

You have to do a bit of math. Add base damage + damage from modifier.

+6 is a big difference from +10. As you upgrade it not only does the weapon's base damage go up, but the bonus from it's scaling will increase as well. a +10 broadsword has like 196 base damage, if you include the scaling it will easily reach and beat the 220 that the drake sword has.
