Now, for a strength build usually hammer weapons are going to scale with strength better than most other weapons. But your strength and dex are pretty close together so a quality weapon would be a good choice as well. A lot of people like the claymore because it does good damage, has a sweet moveset, and attacks pretty quickly. Alternatively you could go with the classic longsword which also has an excellent move set but doesn't do quite as much damage, but attacks much more quickly and is lighter.
After you pick a weapon, upgrade it to at +10 as soon as possible, upgrades are way more important than levels in terms of damage output.
Pick any weapon whose moveset you like with a strength scaling of B or better. Even C is fine, although it'll probably have the same scaling for Dex so you'd want to stay where you are at strength (assuming you two hand it) and pump points into dex. Upgrade it to +10.

Now I'm having fun with a badass +15 greatsword, also trying +15 longsword, pretty cool too !
Just pick a weapon you like :-)
imho every vendor weapon is better than drake sword though it might be boring not having to cut shoot any tails for them
If u like drake sword (despite its poor lenght) I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than Claymore/"Baasted" sword, rather stick with longsword or a katana (nmight even kill someone to get one if u don't like to buy :-P)
I guess I'm just looking at damage amounts - the drakesword does nearly 100 more damage than my +6 Broadsword. Is it when you take speed into account that broad/long swords start to perform better at +10?
How can I get enough large titanite to get to that +10, anywho? It seems pretty scarce
You have to do a bit of math. Add base damage + damage from modifier.
