New Londo Ruins is the New Insanity: Send Help

I'm doing something wrong I just know it. If you have any useful tips for getting to the Four Kings besides "Getting Good," I'm all ears. By the time I even get close to the boss I've used up 10 estus +3's and a humanity. Even tried the valley of the drakes shortcut with the bonfire in darkroot basin instead now that the flood gates are open but running through them unscathed even the first time was a feat unto itself. Damn the darkwraiths & the ghosts just before the door tempting me to use a transient curse thereby screwing up my usage for iron flesh to "tank" the boss as the pyromancer I am. Even w/o Iron flesh I did manage to kill one of the kings on my first round with them but iron flesh would have helped knowing that having a consumable buff doesn't mix with others. Of course when I did speed through the way via the valley of the drakes i ended up dying after going through the boss fog wall due to fall dmg on the stairs. To think I was stuck on the anor londo archers for a couple days this brings a whole new level of salt and toxicity. In conclusion, what should I try? (outside of grinding for souls because screw that i've lost at least 150k souls already)

First of all get rid of iron flesh and get power within, stack some poise so you don't get interrupted every hit you take, and stay very close to the boss so they won't hit you with the blade, which is the really damaging part of the weapon; don't bother blocking and just deal damage, heal as necessary.

As for getting there in one piece, get down from Firelink shrine, after the first 2 ghosts instead of going up the stairs go straight ahead and drop down, you'll end up near a darkwraith; from there you can just run past everything to the fog gate.

Havel's armor for poise, spell stoneplate ring, green blossom, 2 handed simple attacks (I use quelaag furysword, it works quite nicely against them)

It's gotten me through NG+3 as far as 4k goes. You don't quick roll, but with that armor you don't really need to, you can take a hit just stay on top of your estus. You can also fire off a soul spear while you stamina's recharging, but with blossoms it only takes about a second.

What's your vitality at?


Edit: Don't I look silly...I thought this was about fighting them, and not a fast way to get to them.

Yep, Groen90 got it. Best way to get to that fight. You'll use no estus if you do it right.

haven't got to where the OP is, but i have just fought the archers in Londo, and i found out there is a safe spot you can snipe the archers from. Its about half way on the first connecting bridge.

Can't you undo the buff of a Transient Curse just by Saving and Exiting?

right, right u end up in front of fog gate if u do this after entering. But after entering the fog u can also just wait until curse wears off.

Finally get the chance to retry Four Kings (off work now). I'll try all your guys' hints with the exception of wearing anything heavier than light armor. I prefer my starter pyromancy set for the lols (and also becaused it's upgraded for gits and shiggles)

Up to you but, as mentioned, easiest way to do Four Kings is poise. Full Havel's and ignore your equip load. Stand there and beat on them with pyromancies and/or a fire weapon.

Using Full Havels in 4kings fight is a scrub tier approach, but on the other hand who cares? Just don't tell anyone about that afterwards if you don't want to get laughed at.

You can postpone 4kings fight and visit catacombs, so you'll be able to carry more estus btw

It's funny because if you try hard enough, 4Kings can be the 2nd or 3rd boss you can beat(Not that it will do anything yet though).
