Two times more with Claymore (as backup again Quelaag).
Zweihander is good, Winged spear, Balder sword, Bas-tard sword, Uchigatana or better Chaos blade...all great Endgame weapons.
And what you mean when you say endgame? First of all some of the most dangerous parts are: when entering church in New Londo, descent into Tomb of Giants, Titanite demon bitumene floor halls in Sen's fortress...and whole DLC content. Capra demon in Lower burg.
And almost unbeatable Helkite drake!
So here you dont have real endgame hardened experience, on the contrary-game becomes easier because you and your Clamore are more powerful.
He can be killed with something like the BKH or another overhead swinger at the neck but its one of those ridiculous patterns you gotta get graciously lucky on so that the certain death moves don't getcha. Definitely not worth attention unless you're bored as hell or have a lot of dragon slayer arrows.
I like to have 2 different swords in my right hand. One is a Zwei, for stonlocking, and another is a Claymore, for speed and ripostes.
OP. If you're going streingh, go this route. Use Claymore in one hand for use against fast enemies and parries, use Zwei for tough and slow enemies and backstabs. I use this with full Elite knight gear, and I have a FaP ring and Havel's ring, with that, and about 20 END, give or take a level or 2, I can have both weapons equipped, plus either a Grass shield for Zwei or any other shield for Clay, plus full elite knight armor, I plan to get Daddy mask and see what else I can equip. It's so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun.
Flash Sweat helps a lot. (gives a flat 45% damage reduction to fire damage)
Even then though, fighting the Drake requires a good bit of luck. Is worth a healthy bit of souls though (10k in NG, 50k in NG+) so might be worth the frustration.
How I beat drake recently in NG+3...from top of the stairs I hit him with arrow; then he flies down to fight me. This is the moment for Sunlight spear/Lightning spear miracle. After that run down to cover because he'll try to burn you. When he go back on tower just repeat the process. For some reason drake did not heal never ever.
