How to get good damage out of Estoc? [Solved]

I've started using the estoc and it has great range, nice moveset and amazing crits, but it hits for around 40 damage in pvp with a normal hit at +10, with 20 dex. Any tips on how to get good damage out of it?

Only things I know so far are "Leo Ring" and Weapon Buffs / Power Within

Getting your estoc to +15 and your dex to 40 would be the most obvious thing to do, other than that the things you already mentioned.
The running attack hits twice, so that will give you some decent damage. Aside from that don't count on too much, it's a thrusting sword after all.

I was only asking for help because 40 damage is insanley low. Like what infusion, dex softcap etc.

I'll go for +15 then and to 40 dex as it's softcap.

Btw empress, I mentioned it has amazing crits, but I was asking for reqular attacks. I've landed multiple parries with it, and I know they hit hard.

Dashiell rapiers have hidden modifiers, and it ignores armor I believe. Normal rapier ecceds dark silver tracer

low reach, low damage, no crit modifier..

ed: probably some crit there, but rapier > estoc

Don't expect to get 10 buffs on this like in DS2. Your best option is to either buff it, just use it as a secondary weapon, or go full turtle mode with black knight shield/eagle shield. Don't upgrade it to chaos or lightning unless you plan on keeping your dex low, +15 is the best option by far unless you're going for crits exclusively.

What? Keep your shield up, press R1 and you're good to go. Estoc also has a crit multiplier, where are you getting your info?

I love how now people are suggesting I use diffrent weapons, when I actually have other builds that use them. I use a zweihander in a str build, and for range a great scythe in a pyro build. Stop suggesting weapons :P

Have you even ever equipped the estoc? You can totally turtle poke with it.
And yes, the estoc might have a listed crit of 100, but damage calculation is a bit more complex than that.

As to how you get good damage out of the estoc, you will want to get it to +15 which increases the dex scaling to B. To get absolute max damage out of it you'll actually want a proper quality build (27/40 or 40/40 str/dex), as it has a D scaling in str.
Leo ring and learning to time your hits is the way to go. With a good counter you can get some pretty decent damage out of it. Mostly though it's about getting hits in whenever you get a chance. Don't expect to finish fights in 3-4 hits, this is not a Zweihander.
