Do the shortsword or the broadsword have a niche?

These two weapons seem pretty useless compared to the other straight swords like the longsword since the shortsword is basically just a weaker longsword with less requirements and the broadsword is the exact same thing as the longsword but with no thrust. Is there any real advantage of using them over a longsword or any other straight sword?

Broadsword scored me a good share of frags when I just got into forest PvP and it was my main weapon during the first playthrough, but nowadays I don't think it is good for anything except for

It just has no weight for longsword... Also short. sw. is not so much weaker..It Works just as good when someone's rolling around you.

Same can be said about scimitar.... I won many hard fights with it...even if its weaker..than falc..

It has really fast 1h r1 + 1h r2 combo. And after that, your opponent usually trying to parry it - run for pivot bs. (or keep unlocked swings if he is trying to circle you)
Broadsword problem - - you need a specific build (40/40 ... 34/40) ..for max efficiency...
