How viable are spears?

I've started an spear character (Partizan and Winged Spear mainly) and I honestly don't know what to think about about spears. They have tha AR of most other basic weapons with worse movesets and scaling.

What do you guys think about them?

I tend to use use 4-pronged plow (sunlight blade buffed) on my meta build, or a winged spear on my sl30 Patches pvp build. Both do a good work for me.

They benefit from counter-damage, capable to do quick jabs, have a long reach and can poke from behind shields. Using Demon's Spear in pair with DWGR is literally a humiliation of your opponent.

Well, DWGR and the Demon's Spear really work great together.
I'll look forward to getting the Plow, since I haven't used it before.

Chaos Blade has such a beautiful DPS. Most Spears profit more from quality stats, I believe.

Never underestimate silver knight spear. Went through most of the mid game bosses just with that weapon. Really the only problem I have with it is due to the fact you can't buff it and the scaling. But on a plus side it has a divine weapon buff by default without the damage penalty.

Spears are great finishers but to b honest i hate spears and im awful against spear users. Well what zero ambition said is all to b said about spears.

If you're talking about PvE, they're really not that great. But definitely viable and there's worse stuff.
In PvP their good range and quick jabs make them a nightmare to face sometimes.

BTW I'm pretty sure most Spears are Dex-based.

Ye its good but it u want to get it legit gl with that if i remember correctly it has 2% drop chance

Nah is not that rare. Just put the gold serpent ring on and you should get it soon enough.
For me, is the best spear of the game

Silver knights in Anor seem to kick a lot of people's ♥♥♥♥♥ with their spears

I love them because I can attack while guarding with a shield, which is great for my tanky playstyle. Works great with the Leo Ring (Block, thrust, repeat)

Silver Knight Spear is pretty baller.

But a +15 Winged Spear is still the way to go later in the game.

I eventually dropped spears for a G.Scythe. :>
