PTDE or Remastered?

I see a lot of mixed things when looking through posts. Which one should I buy?

Well, you can't really buy Prepare to Die Edition anymore, and resold keys for it are going for over a 100€, so the Remaster is cheaper to get (well, it is 40, but still cheaper. but if you can wait, it does usually go on sale for 20 on Humble Store). And Remaster does have QoL improvements over the PTDE, such as you can change the resolution, instead of being 720p upscaled to 1080p without DSfix mod, and 60fps without issues such as clipping through floor when sliding down ladders, it is only on a few ladders, but still wanted to mention. So, unless you are willing to spend hundreds on the PTDE if you want the original version, get Remastered.

Pirated ptde or just skip it. Demaster is just so bad. Also if You want online it has even more broken pvp than original.

If you already own the PTDE, then the PTDE edition. If you don't the Remaster is perfectly fine.

If i had the option, DS:R.
If i had the option but a super low-end PC, PtdE (DS:R requires a dx11 capable GPU anyways).

But you don't really have an option anymore, since the only still somewhat reasonably priced version you can actually buy from authorized sources is DS:R.

I can only say from a casual perspective but the colours & atmosphere seem like on point in the PTD edition... remaster has more players and such but I think they butchered "the feel" the game was supposed to illustrate. I'm sure both are fine in their separate own ways.

I only bought remastered because it was about 100x easier to mod it. Ended up enjoying it overall. It was also nice having Blighttown run better than the 10 fps it got on PTDE.

Demaster is bad and not worth it if you have acess to the real game but you would need to spend 3 times the amount of money for it sooo just get demaster on a sale

Remastered has slightly inferior lighting, reflections & saturation at times and seems less atmospheric to those who have played the original. It looks a bit washed out.

I'd suggest new players who haven't seen the original get Remastered. PTD users can stick with dsfix, unless the QOL features of Remastered appeal. :)

I just can laugh about all this people calling "demaster" at DS remastered. I never finished the PTD edition cause its horrible to play with 30 fps and the DSfix is not a real fix. It cause gamebreaking bugs. So no one lose anything at not playing this version.

The souls remasters are just a let down in general, changing alot of gameplay or graphics that really didnt need to be touched

SOTFS was an oddball update that should have contained the orginal enemy layouts and have the new enemy layout fo ng+ or something, and it totally divided the PC userbase. It should have been a free update for pc users tbqh


DS1 remastered was a total botchjob, i warned people after sotfs (when people were begging for a second ds1 pc port years before it was announced) that clamouring for a another bloody port of ds1 would hurt the community and the game's legacy and oh boy was i right on that one.


Des got hit and miss reskin (mostly miss imo) with some half assed new content (tho i supppoise there is still time to add on some big surprise stuff down the road, sony have done out of nowhere big updates before for old games


I dread what they will do to bloodborne (just patch the ps4 ver to 60 fps and 1440p+ for ps5 users sony... like omg lool) tho if they ever get around to it. not that id ever bother with ps5 anyways when ps4 only had 1 good game loll. im pretty souled out anyways, and i have over 10k hours on BB (a BB friend used his ps5 to check for me) I wouldnt even bother with a pc port of BB either, doubly so if they redo the graphics lmao

All these rerealeses do is divide the community. (or provide a publisher to shutdown servers like sony and des)


I simply cannot believe people got hyped for these ports, i guess the switch version of ds1 was pretty hype but its a mediocre port at best, atleast it looked okay.

I guess with all these ports it may have gotten a bunch of new players to jump in and play some souls for the first time, so i guess it aint all negative. But some of the most dedicated fans suffered quite a bit for it. all bout them $$$ i suppose.

If you like to throw away your money at bad and awful things corporations do, you surely have something weird in your head.
PTDE if fine even tho it's kinda bad, as it was the first PC port they did. Now the demaster, in 2020, can someone really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that up? Yeah they did and that disgusting thing was made.

What gamebraking bugs? 60fps don't have any bugs except bonfire one which can be avoided with 100% chance by not spamming cancel button like fking monkey until screen fade animation is finished. Jumps, ladders, everything is fine if Your PC can hit stable 60fps.

and hmmm no one lose anything? Completely broken lightning system in ''bright souls'' demaster? Totally unfitting new particle effects? New less detailed out of place textures (uh gaping dragon oh)? New materials surfaces without any lightning reflections (plastic armors etc)? graphical changes which basically kills specific atmospheric artstyle of original? pvp being even more lagstab focused and muuuuch less technical because dead angle removal? Dumb changes to online interactions like healing system or coop gangbang friendly limit?

bright souls demastered - prepare for cashgrab edition is one big disgrace to community and bamco business policy is just hardcore anal without lubricant for the fans arses.
