Why is Black Knight Halberd so op?

I killed Manus on my second attempt without the silver pendant. The last time i fought him was with Artoria's sword and i died over 20 times. Is BKH just this unbalanced?
Also it's easy to win a 2v1 PVP fight with the thing.

Because it's not that slow, it has huge base damage, it's easy to get early and to upgrade to +5, deals insane poise damage and overall is the best weapon for pve (i've seen some in pvp too, it's THAT good)

You're comparing apples to oranges. Ye boi Artorias' Greatsword is hot split-damage garbage unless you keep leveling all stats it scales with.

Like, even in the same weapon category, I wouldn't call the Scythe worse than the BKH just because the BKH needs less stat investment to be powerful.

That's the problem with the Souls series imo. The game can either be super hard or super easy, depending on what weapon you get/use. On my first ever playthrough, I got a BKH drop, and the game was hilariously easy. Then on my 2nd I used dex weapons, and it was a good challenge. Such a shame.

And then you learn to parry or produce a build that buffs quick Dex weapons and voila, it's not a challenge again :D

Yeah, on my newest run I play unbuffed 2h dagger only to make it harder.

any many weapons are "op" (Artorias sword a lot less than others) if you learned the game, if you didn't any weapon is trash. That's what the game is loved for I think.

It's not OP. It just does a lot of damage really early and it's easy to use. I used it on my first playthrough and even then, I just consider it as a "good" weapon. OP would be the Gold Tracer or something.

In other words, you may have slightly gotten gud.

i am use the obsidian blade and buff it with sun light blade i deal nearly 800 dmg with it thats more like the BKH and u only need 20 str too use obsidian blade

I think you mean short sword or broken straight sword, long sword still has decent damage and range.

it does decent damage, decent range, decent moveset, but it's really boring to use
