What is the gaping demon weak to?

Which, if any, resin should I apply to my weapon before a fight with him?

I don't think it matters, he doesn't seem to be resistant to something in particular, so as long as you hit him with something, he should die no problem.

Don't forget to hit the tail a couple of times :>

All Dragon type enemies are weak to lightning. Demons are weak to Magic damage, undead are weak to fire.

In addition you probably shouldn't summon NPCs for this fight because it increases the bosses healthpool and makes it attack way more often.

Run around it a bunch,and it'll do this attack where it slams its mouth on the ground and charges. Wait for it to charge, make sure you're out of its path, and whack the tail. Rinse and repeat.

I have learned that unless the boss has an obvious weakness/resistance from looking at it (cagh cagh Quelaag), then just hit it with whatever your characters strongest with.

I did that and got his tail axe. Is it worth putting the points into strength just to hold it? I mean yeah it does 300 damage but it has no vertical swing...

also still struggling to kill this guy. I guess it'll take me at least two more days of trial and error to do it. The problem now isn't hurting him, it's stopping him from hurting me.

Try not locking on; about the axe it has no scaling like all dragon weapons, so if high damage is what you want there are better greataxes to go with

Just run and punch him when he lays on the ground and runs straight. Makes things a lot easier.

In gen resistance can be overpowered except a couple like spider babe.
Other then those handful of exceptions its more so what are things particularly weak to (at least spell wise, if your useing a really weak split dmg weapon it can be a problem even in pve particularly in ng+).
