Dodge roll sometimes not working?

Hi guys, I'm doing a sl1 run of dark souls atm (I've done one before but years ago) and am noticing a weird glitch/bug? Sometimes my ability to dodge seems to be completely disabled vs artorias, most notably when he does his charging thrust and big leap. I seem to be completely unable to dodge no matter how hard I spam the B button with full stamina. When he's not doing these attacks I have no trouble rolling at any point but during these two specific attacks I literally cannot dodge at all? I have dsfix installed, is this a dsfix bug by any chance?? Anyone else experienced this? I've tried two other controllers (one ps4, one xbox 360 spare) with this and they both have the exact same issue. This is beyond strange

Figured this one out... it's a bug with unlocked mode. If you try to roll at a certain diagonal angle (the same one I kept doing when dodging those two attacks) your roll will not go through. Just play on locked, that solved it for me

I thought this only happened on keyboard, at least that's what someone told me some time ago... guess not then? I kinda remember seeing it when I tried out the remaster too, so if what you're saying is accurate, it's gotta be a problem with the game itself

Yeah it definitely is. I reproduced it very consistently. The solution is just to play locked on, the game doesn't look it when you unlock

i'm still getting this problem, but while locked on too. it's really strange, they're not even close calls, i'll fully press and release B and nothing happens at all, and a good half second later i'll get hit by whichever attack it was. monitored my gamepad inputs to be sure and they're not getting dropped or anything

i thought it was just that i was too used to the omnidirectional rolling / faster dodge timing of the sequels, but i got used to it up to this point in the game. this is literally the only time i've had it, just with artorias lol
