Also the comment above me is true.
About Ciaran being in the Nito boss fight, I found quite interesting (maybe not so much as loreful) but still, I always enjoy boss fights with multiple enemies. Although adding Ciaran actually makes the fight easier in my opinion, as you can just parry her to death and the boss is down.
The Dukes Archives bonfire literally got moved to the adjacent room, just requiring you to kill a golem to get it. Not really a major inconveniance.
The only place I've had concerns with was the Painted World of Ariamas, as the hollows there do around 350+ damage a hit, which is ludicrous considering you're facing on average 3 at a time.
Personally I think DoA is great, certain aspects are much better than the vanilla game, such as Pinwheel not being a complete pushover anymore. Adding a golem to the Moonlight Butterfly boss fight so it's not a snoozefest anymore.
GIT GUD CASUL
I think this is a great mod. It mixes up the existing formula, encourages you to pursue different routes and different play styles - what's tried and tested won't necessarily work any more. It makes it a challenging and fresh experience. Cast your mind back to when Dark Souls first came out, all those years ago, and you would have heard the same cries of "why is it so hard? Why do I have to play the way the developers want me to?" etc. As soon as people "figure out" the mod, then a huge range of routes and playstyles will become possible, just like as for original Dark Souls.
There are some bugs and if you're worried about that, it might be worth waiting a little while for it to stabilise. The mod creator is really active and seems to be patching issues really quickly, so I doubt you'll have to wait long. And you shouldn't. This mod really feels like a breath of fresh air - new routes, new items, new bosses, new stories, new mysteries etc.
tl;dr it's a mod that's completely free to download and quick to setup. So just dive in and find out for yourself! :D
Hello, thank you for anwering nice, without dumb "I haven't read, but git gud casul" :)
Well the thing is I don't remember myself or my friends cry about "difficulty" or "play the way the developers want me to" because there is no such thing in PtDE except Four Kings that was 200% easier with magic if I'm not mistaking and the first meeting with Seath where you had to die. DS is skill based game after all and we all understood that (Demon Souls taught us that :D), I killed O&S naked in my first playthrough because it was possible and a lot easier than doing it in armor, so yea, mostly there is no such thing as "the way developer chose".
You see my complain is that the mod creator calls his mod "within and expanding lore of universe" but this is absolutely not true. I really pressed alt+f4 when I saw Giant guards staying afk while two dragons flying around, and I had to force myself to enter the game again and conitnue playthrough and make my opnion based on full game.
It just doesn't feel like DS anymore. Souls-like, yea, probably, but not DS. For me it's Lords of the Fallen or The Surge level, which is mediocore at best :/
Where is the f... thumbs up button'?
Anyway, I did stop playing it and instead just watched the rest of the run on Youtube. Very few nice ideas with pure fanfic edge moments, but overall a waste of my time. If I want something hard, I would play something with a good combat system that is fun, like the Ninja Gaiden trilogy or Nioh. This mod has some god tier bs in it because there is zero game design to be found.
But hey it's also like playing a different game, kinda, and it's free so... I was pumped at the beginning though and wasn't sure whether I should continue watching lobos playing it or just try it out myself. I chose the first option and am glad I did that. Already bored and overall unsatisfied.
