Giant Dad?
I'm new to the souls series so I just heard about a giant dad, which was apparently a meme. I'm just curious as to why it became a meme, somone told me it was a griefing set but I don't understand what they mean by that. I "think" the mask of the father increases carry wieght but I don't see how that made this a griefing set.

The build had very high def hi damage output and poise + you can stunlock opponents to death that dont know how to toggle out of stuns.
Its just a r1 r1 r1 build.

Oh my, did fromsoft ever do anything about it or will it be in the remaster?

A well optimised build for crushing players of weak to middling skill in pvp was displayed by OnlyAfro in a certain video of his. This build used the giant's armour and mask of the father, hence: "Giant Dad".

The strength of the build lies in its fastroll, heavy damage, heavier stunlock capabilities and disgustingly high health, stamina and absorption. You can make a lot of mistakes using this build. You opponent cannot.

The original "Giant Dad" video was posted under the title of "He's Back", a reference to the Flip ring working for midroll builds, thank ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god they patched that.

It's not an exploit. It's just optimisation of the most disagreeable sort, often used for the nastier kind of invading. They won't patch it.

At sl120 meta pvp it's kinda unexciting, though still viable for a good player. More of a meme these days.

The zweihander is still a very powerful weapon in some situations, and a very debilitating one to rely on. The grass crest shield is still omnipresent. Giant's armour is still very powerful and overused. The rings of FAP and Havel are still superpowerful, just like Flip, Poise, Hornet and probably some other rings. Mask of the father still does nothing.

Why would they do anything about it? Yeah it's going to be in the remaster.

Hmm good point

Yeah once you start fighting actually good players, the build honestly becomes something of a joke. It's still not the worst build ever, but other players will have much higher damage output with their standard physical damage weapons and will toggle out of stuns if they ever even get hit by the thing. It's just such a slow, predictable weapon that unless you only go for backstabs, you're going to get either parried or backstabbed, yourself. And Giant Dad doesn't use Hornet Ring typically, so you lose out on a lot of damage there as well.

It's a meme build that is designed solely to stomp scrubs and inexperienced PvP players. A good GiantDad player can contend against real PvP builds but it's honestly not designed for it. Toggle Escape alone makes it not as good as a real pvp build. It's still a fun build though.

You're going to have worse things to worry about in the remaster anyway. That build is gimped until it gets enough endurance to at least midroll. They need 66 end + FAP + Havel's Ring to fast roll. You will see an occassional one one low level griefers but they're going to fat roll. At low level you're going to have twink griefers who are optimized for like SL 25-30 so they can hit players with SLs in the teens.

Nope but you can parry ultras in ds1 and toggle escape stuns so there not too hard to kill.
