i'm lvl 180, i know i know "how can't you beat him at this lvl". i didn't play this game for a year now, i forgot how to parry him and videos online don't help me.

A good fire resistant shield should be able to win you the fight with no problem, provided you don't block absolutely everything he throws at you... use it to learn his moveset, then watch your stamina and prepare to roll your way to victory... or just use it to bait his easily punishable kick and grab attacks. Put on some stamina regen as well.

well its all about parrying him.Just take your time with black knights and remember how to parry

what weapon should i use? i have a +15 halberd which is the fastest of the upgraded weapons i have, but even that does very little damage to him

Well, what's your build?
If you have a decent int, pinging him to death with sorcery from distance is probably the easiest way to go.

damn, +15 halberd sounds good enough... but if you want big boi damage, just farm the black knights on the way to the boss for a while, their weapons are god tier

i get their stuff so often it pisses me off, so what you are saying is the black knight sword is the way to go?

yeah, medium shield parries in this game are so broken good that you can literally just do that, but if your reflexes are not good enough you can bait his slower 2-handed swing by sipping one estus flask.
Usually it would go something like this:
1) Parry his starting leap attack
2) Ｓｉｐｐ estus
3) Press parry button
4) Repeat from step 2 until dead

Not just the sword, all BK weapons hit very hard, provided they're maxed out

ok, so which BK weapon would you recomend? BK halberd seems like it does the most damage

Yeah, they use that thing in speedruns, nuff said... normally I'd say try them all and pick the one with the moveset you like the most.

There are some alternative weaknesses with Gwyn that you can exploit :
- Fire and physical resistant gear, if sufficiently upgraded, helps you withstand his attacks. Black Knight Shield and Dragon Crest Shield are particularly good shield-wise
- Eating a Green Blossom will help you recover from his aggressiveness periods and put more distance between you two for a heal, and generally help with stamina management.
- Gwyn has exactly 100 poise. That means two hits [IF TWO HANDING] from an axe, hammer, greatsword, curved greatsword, Black Knight Greataxe (it's faster but weaker than most greataxes), or any weapon from a heavier weapon class will stun him, helping with stamina management again and beating him overall.


Btw. Halberd +15 is a good weapon but its scaling is mildly Dexterity-focused. If you want a halberd on a Strength build, Black Knight and Gargoyle are the way to go, although Halberd does fine - it just lacks the poise damage to truly wreck Gwyn.
