Man serpent greatsword?

Just beat sif and am going to go and do the catacombs now, before new londo. I am doing a STR build and currently have 35 STR. I am also two handing a MSG+10. Two things: Should i use either of the weapons using sif's soul? Or any other weapon? And should i be leveling DEX or STR to get more damage, since i'm two-handing it? I assume DEX would be good since i have hit the softcap by two handing it.

Man serpent greatsword scales only with strength, adding dex yould have literally no effect, sif weapons are bad, since they need 20 on every damage stat (that is, STR, DEX, INT, FAI) however, sif soul can be used to get artorias' greatshield which is the most op shield in the game, making a playthrough a breeze.

I don't use shields. I do carry the crass crest shield around for the stamina, though. Jesus aramis is spooky...

There's another STR only weapon you could try using, the great demon machete which is droped by capra demons at demon ruins (Or can be bought from shiva) it's significantly slower with a less useful moveset, but it hits harder and has a lot of range (and looks cool af, imo)

I don't know whether you already got gaping dragon or not but his tail weapon (dragon king greataxe) is also very nice imo. I used it with bandit class and 34 STR at SL30 and it served me very well.

I do have that weapon, but i despise greataxes and clubs because of their simple moveset.

+15 and 40 str is like hard to beat, especially with vit and end

...and havels armour while keeping below 50% load. I'm a complete poise tank as well.

Yep, i will! I have decent DEX too since i was using the claymore up untill sens fortress.

If you have high Strength and decent Dex you can try alternating between MSGS and Black Knight Greataxe, which is faster and has a different moveset than greataxes BUT lower damage (it keeps greataxe damage on backstabs, ripostes, running and rolling attacks as well as jumping and plunging attacks but essentially has greatsword-tier damage and slightly slower speed but higher poise damage on R1s and R2s).

For MSGS, just find the Very Large Ember to upgrade it past +10 and upgrade your vitality and endurance. Eventually you can develop a way to buff it via cheap sorcery buff tricks or bring up your Strength to 40 (probably both).
