Severe Frame Drops (The Depths)
I have recently played throught the depths and this is the only area i have experience severe frame drops. I have the latest dsfix installed, with tex mods in place. everythign was working magnifsantley up until the sewer area where i started to encounter huge (40-50fps) drops. from running the game smoothly at 60 fps before this area, my frames drops to 10-11fps and below eventaully causing me to get kicked to the title menu or crash the game. even after loading back in from the title menu with offline mode it will still do this.

WHAT CAN BE DONE???

If you need specs, i can provide more info.

Fixed: Download the Blightown (The Depths) standard texture Pack and not the Lossless version. Only get Lossless Version if your system can handle 4K resolution.

WHOAH, 40fps? Poor soul. You might as well end ye own misery experiencing 40 fps minimum. That was a joke people, t'was a joke Exodia. Try mess around with the Dsfix settings. That might change things.

What is your CPU usage at while the game is running? Also try to enable V-sync with graphics card control panel, or set borderless windowed.

Gee, my fps drop a bit in there but not that much. Maybe try leaving the fps option unlocked but go down to 30 fps? That will create a buffer to protect your fpses [source needed]

40fps isnt the minimum, its the amount of frames i lose when loading textures in the sewers.

Idk what my cpu usage is but ill set my gpu vsync on try to see if this fixes it

Ive tried it on 30 fps and 60, with the same fps drop. on 30 it will drop to around 5-6fps when loading sewer textures

use dsfix to turn the in game vsync off and set the fps limit to 30. the ingame vsync system will drop your fps dramatically if it can't maintain the specified threshhold.

the game is not coded for 60. you'll encounter physics bugs and have huge drops in performance in certain areas. you think the depths are bad? you haven't seen anything yet; blight town, lost izalith and the fight with seath the scaleless will really chug.

Seriously, I really dont want to play the gaem in 30fps because of personal preference. I mean, if there isnt any way at all to avoid these frame drops then I will have to.:steamsad:

What if I reinstall the game on SSD???

Can you share your DSfix set up?

Did you set your AA and blur in-game "OFF"? You also need to set up your resolution a bit. Try this tutorial:

AA and Blur is off in game and ive done all the things prior to the guide. I have recently just activated threaded optimisation adn vsync through nvidia control panel. No work bro.
PainkilleR Jan 10, 2018 @ 10:19am
Try disabling hyper-threading and run it on your 4 physical cores instead. For the sake of experiment try setting FPSthreshold to 1 (so that dsfix won't enable/disable AA all the time).

Your pc seems decent, you shouldn't get such performance fluctuations, especially in depths.

If you haven't tried already, then try disabling Steam Overlay. It caused many issues for me when I installed dsfix for the first time.

Ive tried all of these and they dont work.

So, i turned of texoveride and its all fine now. once i get deeper into blightown ill turn on the tex overide to see how the performance is degrading. shame really, i miss my Sunny D estus flask.
PainkilleR Jan 10, 2018 @ 11:21am
May I ask you what mods are you using that they degrade performance so much?
