Dark Souls: No Master Key Edition
Who here loves playing Dark Souls without a master key? I love it because it forces you to play and explore more. Blighttown: No master key = Harder, more cancerous routes around Blighttown. I just think it's great.

I think most people get a master key when they plan to make a PvP build.

First playthrough is best without it. I've seen plenty of streams ruined because chat said they should pick Master Key. smh :d2axe:

I got a pendant on my 1st playthrough lol :DirkHLD:

OP --> tbh I feel you man, but I do choose master key 90% of times to pick up what I want more quickly and enjoy connectivity of the world from the beginning.
Also you can break the game with the master key. With my most recent character, a pyromancer, I had Queelag as my FIRST boss. Granted I did sh*t damage and died a bunch because Maneater Mildred has horrible AI I finally beat her and if you know how to soul dupe you can have a character with end game stats right after getting Queelag's soul. Also getting the master key lets you get the grass crest shield, the dragon crest shield and a few other useful items faster. You could even go through the Great Hollow to get the chloranthy ring if you know where to find it. I've only gotten it once but I don't remember if I used it.

Yeah my first playthrough I didn't pick Master Key, and I think it's best that way. I tend to suggest that people pick the Old Witch's Ring on their first playthrough, that way they can get the extra dialogue even if they miss out on going back to Asylum or just don't know about trading to Snuggly for it.

That said, all I do these days is PvP so I always pick Master Key.

Having no master key is cancer when you play through the 765th time. Why would you discourage people from replaying the game?

I love the responses! I really love to see what you guys have to say about the discussion. I love all of points you all have mentioned like choosing it for PvP builds, not choosing it for starting builds, and more. I respect all of your opinions and I love to see them. Thank you all for the good sporting comments! :) <3
