[Resolved] Dragon Scales Farming

Farming Drakes in the Valley of Drakes is the most patience-grating thing in the world. I would say that it is worse than farming Silver Knights in Dark Souls 3 because at least those can't fly and the drop rates are about the same.

If someone helps me farm up 30 Dragon Scales by placing a Dragon Eye Sign and dying as a dragon phantom I will help you farm however many you need, either for the Covenant or upgrading dragon weapons.

Dragon Tooth, Drake Sword, Priscilla's Dagger, Obsidian Greatsword, Dragon Greatsword, and the Moonlight Greatsword are all dragon weapons. I'm pretty sure there's at least one more but I can't remember which it is. I personally don't care too much about my dragon weapons, I just want the scales for the covenant.

Currently SL 53, just took down Ornstein and Smough.

Use fire. A LOT of fire. 2 great combustions are enough to stagger them and then you can lock them. If not, Great Fireball can also stagger them.

They can also be poisoned and toxic'd, but that isn't why I made the post.

Drakes are easy to kill. Especially since you don't need to invest in any stats but attunement to farm them in the easiest way which, like you said, is lots of fire. But even at max item discovery the drop rate on Dragon Scales is far too low, hence the comparison to farming Proof of Concord Kept in Dark Souls 3. Its almost as bad as farming Pure Bladestone in Demon's Souls. Almost.

I'd like my 30 Scales some time before the heat death of the universe, and I'm sure other people would too, which is why I'm offering to help people farm for scales if they'll help me. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

hehe, back in the day when GFWL was a thing, I just invaded new players at the bottom of Blighttown and traded Giant Armor for their Dragon Scale you could find in the chest there.

Took some time too, but was waaaaay faster than farming the stupid dragons

Power within + katanas with some high poise + max item drop rate. That's how I farmed them.
