As far as I know you can only get one on each playthrough.

To get Smough's you need to beat Ornstein first and then beat giant Smough. After the fight Domhnall of Zena in the Depths will sell Smough's set.

Look for a dead corpse in a place you can only get to by jumping and its outside the sewers under aqueduct near firelink shrine.

Considering the area you're looking for is a 30 second jaunt from the Firelink bonfire, and you can teleport to it, it's not "too late" for anything. Since you can only get the armor once per cycle, it's worth your time if you actually want it.

The merchant you're looking for used to be in the Depths, but has relocated to a closer area - in Firelink shrine, under the aqueduct.

Yeah it's in the same spot a ring of sacrifice is on a dead corpse at a spot you can only reach by jumping.
