Whats the point of the Lost Izalith shortcut?
Other than rescuing Solaire, and also farming the Titanite demon...what is the point? The closest bonfire to bed of poop is the hidden one, and getting to that bonfire from the one after the firesage or from the one after centipede is basically the same distance. Am I missing something here?

I'm pretty sure it's slightly shorter and you don't have to go through lava if you're coming from the nearest warpable bonfire, which is the one near Quelaag's sister.

It's actually a lot shorter, plus you don't have to switch rings
If you're an absolute madman and want to farm demon titanite the Titanite Demon on that bridge with all the vines respawns so you could theoretically farm him for as much demon tianite as you want. If you're good at dodging it's probably worth it incase you run out of demon titanite or are using multiple boss weapons.

Shortcut allows you to leave and come back easily. Leave as in "warp to a completely different Lord Soul"; the bonfire in the lava cannot be warped to and is a pain to get to, but it's a quick and painless jaunt from the Daughter of Chaos bonfire through the shortcut.

It allows fire damage based characters to skip centipede if opened by DoC covenant...

Actually, modify that, it allows anyone with common sense to skip Centipede. Hate that boss fight. (stupid lava).
Just run to the right and fight the thing on bigger ground.

The lava is not even the biggest problem in that fight. It's the camera when he gets too close to you and the ridiculous amount of physical damage and poise damage he does. Not even havel's shield can block that long distance punch (or kick, w.e. it is) that he does when he's walking towards you. Also in full havel's with the ring of steel protection it still does way too much damage. Ontop of all that the framerate is horrible. The only relief you might get is if you summon Solaire as a human meatshield.

Actually never had a problem with him once I could actually get him onto normal ground. He's a little like super Ornstein (who really is just an Iron Giant that can't ring out you) with less attacks. My problem is always luring him over to the normal ground without lava killing me. Of course, the problem could be that I tend to leave vitality as a dump stat.
