Is DS1 looking way better than DS2?
Or is it just me? :praisesun:

Graphicly? - No. Aesthetically - Depends on taste.

Well objectivly, DS2 has some way superior shading and textures, as well as polygon count going on. But in terms of atmosphere and detail, DS1 wins.
both of these

This video could be called "a troll's vie on graphics". As if the far background matters as much as to make it shiny, come on!

Graphics wise, they gutted the lighting too.

The lighting is akward in both games IMO.

Turn off DSFix and GeDoSaTo before comparing.

This is what I thought today. Dark Souls 1's visuals convey a much better atmosphere imo.

I bought Dark Souls 1 and it was unplayable and a mess. It was disgusting to look at and only by googling mods was I able to make the screen look half decent, non-disorientating and actually playable. I doubt the sequel is worse.
Has to do with have a coherrent style, indvidual items look better in dark souls 2.

Despite the graphics being better in ds2, the colors are a little too cheery (best way I can describe it). Non-graphic wise, it's weaponry is very fluid, TOO FLUID. It's like you're fighting with paint brushes. ._. (I added that cause it effects the aesthetic appeal of the game)

Exactly, and on top of that, the characters float. Get hit, you float backwards. The giant ogres, when they attack they move around but their feed don't represent that movement enough. The Falcon Knights are an even better example, their running animation circle is a joke, they look like they are running in slow motion, but are moving faster then most enemies of that size, it's a joke. I sometimes start DS2 again but always have to force myself to ignore the weird combat and movement mechanics...
They really had no idea how to capture the feeling of DS1. Myazaki did it with Bloodborne again, but in DS3, somethings way off, as if he handicapped the potential himself.

Why? Unless you install a "everything Nicolas Cage" mod, then the atmoshpere and art style won't be changed by mods. There are way more polished areas in DS1 then in DS2, because they obviously went overboard with quantity. There is just something in the art style that makes DS1 that only Bloodborne also captures.
