A lore question

Why when you defeat oristein first does smough smash him. He was still fu*king alive smough. His finger was twitching. Why did he have to crush him? Is it because he wanted to be one of the knights?

Defeating them is a test, if you finish Smough first - Ornstein will consume him. I supposed you can look at it like a deal - whoever falls first will provide boost to the other.

Also Dark Souls 2 is a fanfic.

smough was an executioner that wanted to become a part of the four knights, but gwyn rejected him since his ways were too violent.
smough kills ornstein in a quick way to end his suffering while still taking enjoyment out of killing him

Isn't Smough a cannibal? I mean, he ground people's bones and ate them(that was the whole reason Gwyn rejected him)...

Plus, it's how the game portrays them taking power from each other. I don't think there's more to that than that.

I don't think he and Ornstein were willingly cooperating. More of an out of necessity alliance I think.

From what I understand, this Ornstein is an illusion and Smough's backup body. If you kill Smough first, buffed Ornstein will sometimes to Smough's laugh and buttslams. The real one left Anor Londo with real Gwynewere.

Hm. Isn't Gwynevere in relation with some sort of a god or something? Isn't a large part of AL an illusion?

Ornstein is not the old dragonslayer since old dragonslayer has grey armor while ornstein has golden armor, ornstein might be the storm drake since you can find his armor in the arena where you fight the storm Drake next to nothing not even a corpse

She married Flame God Flann. There is a theory that one of the areas in Dark Souls 2 used to be their residence. As for the illusion thing, a lot of enemies are fake and the AL's sun is fake too. The city itself is probably real.

Yea many thing are illusion in Anor Londo, but cleary O&S aren't. they are here to watch over the Lord Vessel, be sure no one can get it. Iam not sure any sort of illusion made by Gwyndolin can handle that task. And , again, Ornstein Souls as reward... is that soul an illusion too for you..? comon...

its just an old armor, maybe here because one of old chosen undead became a dragon here while wearing this armor? it could be anything, but it cannot be Ornstein body. Ornstein died in darksoul 1 plot, by chosen undead.

DS1 Ornstein is fake, DS3 proves that(Smough armor's description says that Smough is the only knight left in Anor Londo and Ornstein's armors tells us that he left Anor Londo to seek the Firstborn) and the fact that Super Ornstein has Smough's voice and moves proves that further. Gwyn managed to split Lord's soul and give it to 4 knights. Who said that Ornstein couldn't split his own soul in order to make illusion more believable.

Ornstein and Smough are real. Gwyn ordered Ornstein to look after Smough and to protect the illusion of Gwynevere. Ornstein left Anor Londo with Gwyns Firstborn, the Nameless King at some point for a while, to bring him to Lothric. But he came back. Gwynevere is an illusion, created by Gwyndolin, to make people think, there is still someone from the family in Anor Londo, but the real Gwynevere left to marry Flann and never came back.

And to the cutscene:
Smough hated Ornstein, because he was one of Gwyns close knights. Something that Smough wanted to be, but never achieved. Everything that counted for Smough was violence, but he would never be able to kill Ornstein by himself, he was unprofessional. A simple executioner, strong enough to use a great hammer.
In the fight, when he watched Ornstein fall because of you, he became the executioner once again. And because of his anger, he absorbed Ornsteins power during the execution and hoped, when he defeats you, the one who defeated Ornstein, he will take Ornsteins spot and become a close knight of Gwyn.

BTW darksoul 3 prove nothing, its just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ teenage game, with poor lore, only make to statisfy new player who dont understand darksoul 1, or dont wanna play it ,because "its an old game, you know".... its a fan junky stuff, i take no advice from darksoul 3. this game will not change what darksoul 1 lore is. In other term, more simple : ♥♥♥♥ darksoul 3 =) , here , its darksoul1 forrum... go spread your wanky theory in darksoul3 forum please...
