Pursuers or Manus Catalyst?
As the title might insinuate, I'm making a strength-intelligence build and I gotta get me some o that dark sorcery action. But trudging through the game for a second Manus soul will be time consuming.

Should I get the pursuers or the catalyst? I'm leaning towards the catalyst so I can benefit from the stat investment first time around, (unless someone is gracious enough to gimme a spare catalyst and I spend my own soul on the Pursuers, in which case I'd gladly spend a few extra hours/minutes procuring an object of equal trade).

Also: I haven't quite gotten to Manus yet, I've only just reached passed where Kalameet gives you the stink eye for the first time.

The Pursuers are stronger and do magic and physical damage both but it is also extremely slow.
The Manus catalyst is like a stronger crystal catalyst as they both cut spells by half. So the catalyst is good due to the fact that is stronger plus the spells or you can get pursuers which are a single very strong spell but you will be stuck with a weaker catalyst. Its a tradeoff I guess.

Actually, the crystal staff is better. With that I would imagine the INT scaling is much higher on the manus catalyst so it all depend on your stats

I'm aiming for 30/40 str-int. Possibly more in either if I haven't hit the soul meta cap by then. I'm not particularly looking to maximize damage, because dark sorcery in general is somewhat OP to begin with.

Are you gonna try to hit someone with the catalyst or just magic stuff?

Both. I want both items by the time I'm done with this build but I'm asking what should I choose if I had to make a choice between the two now.

I'm holding on to the titanite demon halberd and the moonlight horn at the moment for melee damage.

And have both but what i probably pick persuer first for just 1 reason. It make everyone go back/nervous enought to hit them with anything else. How the ♥♥♥♥ can follow you is kind of annoying too.
I have the vaguest memories of being attacked by pursuers in the forest and getting pegged left and right like a scrub. Looks like new game + will be my go to.

I might take a break from that character tho to work on my reaper build.

you don't have to rely on a certain catalyst to carry out more than enough damage (with all the stacking possibilities) so I vote pursuer

I can give you the catalyst
I tried it on a twink but could never commit to it because the weight req
/e wish catalysts had casting speeds built in like the other games otherwise sorceries might actually be universally good here

I appreciate it. I'm not online at the moment cuz classes, but I'll gladly help you out with anything in return should you need anything.

And yeah, dark souls 2 handled that well with individual fast speeds. 3 was meh with it, although you could just do a twink run to access the sage ring +2 early.
