Report a translation problem
Divine is strong against undead / skeletons and harpies. This suggests the divine and it's clerics are meant to keep the humans in check when they turn undead, as well as other opposition to the lords. Which is coming from their own kind, like a certain rogue goddess that's linked to crows.
Whenever the abyss turns up they completely lose it and use drastic methods (e.g. New Londo), since they just don't know how to fight it. This gets reinforced further in DS3 ,
-the Abyss Watchers, who carry Artorias legacy will bury a whole kingdom at the slightest sign of abbyssal taint. Yet in the end they get "infected" just as atorias was.
- the silver knights and black knights are weak against dark damage
