Toxic mist PVE viability?

How viable is this spell? I've tried inflicting toxic on several bosses, including the stray demon which I know is weak to poison, but I don't think it got poisoned by it.

Am I doing something wrong here?

You can look up a list of enemies and bosses resistant to poison and toxic on wikidot. Poison Mist/Toxic Mist are more of an gimmick than anything. They are only somewhat useful to hinder your enemies sight in corridors for PvP.

Use depends upon lock-on and upon enemy resistances. When locked on, the cloud is aimed at your target in a thin stream, allowing you to poison enemies farther away, but the AoE itself isn't very large. Unlocked it spreads out in a thicker cloud closer to you.


...it doesn't really have enough uses to be worth an entire attunement slot, though.

If I dont have Fire Tempest or Chaos Storm, I use Toxic Mist in the phalanx of ariamis for farming. And sometimes in PvP, but just for the lulz. The mist is so thick that works as distraction. Sometimes works is the host is hiding in a closed room, like in Undead Burg (so cruel).

Yup, well, I can think of a hundred scenarios where mist pyromancies work in PvP, but I'm trying to find a use for PvE. Also, killing phalanx with a storm spell is much better and faster, nets the kill in a couple of seconds whereas you need to check if you inficted toxic on everyone, then wait as the poison finishes them off.

I mostly use it on hordes of enemies. Ornstein and Smough can be poisoned and Toxified I believe, as does the demon bosses and some other ♥♥♥♥♥. If you're using Toxic Mist, you might as well use Poison mist in conjunction, cause some mobs won't sit still for shet enough to be poisoned.
