So how do you kill the Hellkite Wyvern?
I'm doing an NG+ run, and now I'm stuck at the dilemma of one of the game's cheapest enemies. The first time I accidentally killed him via a glitch when I wanted to fight him, but now? There's no way for me to fight it since all it does are fire attacks. I've yet to have a single bite or claw or whatever the hell it has.

I killed him with the drake sword on my first run xp The trick was to employ a hit and run strategy. I could go into more detail if you want

I've been trying hit and run, but all it does is belch out it's heartburn consistently with no stopping. I also tried using the dragonslayer greatbow. It just heals back up to full health, which is a second reason for it being the cheapest enemy of the game.

Easiest way is to three man tango
Someone shoots him with a greatbow by sunboy, host sits by stairs.
Fukboi #3 attacks rear while dragon vomits on fukboi #1 by sunboy.

Not enough people for that.

If your going with a hit and run tactic, you'll have to force him into a pattern where he just walks down the bridge. This generally happens when your out of his sight by hiding behind one of the walls in middle of the bridge. Strike him when his leg is within reach, but make sure your near the stairs so you can dive right under there after hitting him cause he'll immediately retaliate with a fire breath attack. Rinse and repeat and eventually you'll kill him

You can also use the stairs at the middle of the bridge. Attack the wyvern with a bow to bring it onto the bridge, aggro it so it breathes fire/jumps around, and duck under the stairs to avoid getting hit. At some point, if you are low enough on the stairs, the wyvern starts walking along the bridge (just prior to flying back up to its perch) -- when its foot comes within range of the stairs, attack.

As long as you keep the wyvern on the bridge in this manner, it won't be able to heal.

I tried this too. He still just belched fire all the time, hopping from one side to the next to repeat the pattern.

My only hope here is, since it's clearly broken and full of curdled cheese, to use a cheese grater to 'clean' it.

I noticed this as well and tried a few times, but the second I came onto the bridge to take a swing, it dodged and OS me.

That's RNG for you. I find the stairs to be more reliable than the bridge walls, but sometimes you just have to be patient.

If you have a long-reaching weapon (e.g. Man-Serpent Greatsword R2), you can get the tip of his foot without moving very far from the stairs. You still have to be quick, though.

I have a +15 claymore. I've tried being quick, too. I tried rushing its feet right before it belched fire. The damn thing jumped up before the animation was even finished and did its ballerina twirl to kill me in one hit with its fire.

Perhaps you're misunderstanding me. You don't run onto the bridge -- you stay at the stairs and attack as soon as his foot comes within range of your weapon. He'll almost certainly jump/breathe fire otherwise.

True that, you have to be patient and wait for the right opening to strike

Rushing to his feet will almost always result in certain death, just stay naer the stairs or the walls and wait for him to come to you.
Alsonbe sure to cut of his tail first from under the bridge, that will get rid of his dangerous tail whip

It's why I didn't do it again. I saw it activated its OS breath, so...
