Decent Quality Spear?

Hey all, I'm working on a SL 125 40/40 spear build. Right now I'm using the Demon's Spear but I want something similar to it in terms of physical damage. Any recommendations?

Since you're a quality build, your best bets are Pike, Dragonslayer Spear and Silver Knight Spear. Only Demon's Spear is truly quality but Pike has a D scaling in Strenght, Dragonslayer's C/B (but dat faith scaling...), and Silver Knight Spear just has a hecklot of base damage.

Partizan shares Pike's scaling but its base damage is a fair bit lower at the highest upgrade ranges, so it gets outdamaged by Winged Spear most of the time I believe. If Pike's too heavy I'd choose Winged Spear or Silver Knight Spear over Partizan.

Crap...I do have my build set at 18 faith for the TWOP requirement. But I killed Ornstein and Fatty a long time ago. I guess I should go into NG+ anyway, I have to reach 126 and there's no way I can find enough Souls to level up to that this time around.

Frankly, I'm not certain if the Dragonslayer is even worth it. While my stats on the build that has it aren't 'optimal' (24 str 39 dex 38 faith), it seems to be one of those weapons with high displayed attack ratings and not-so-high damage, and I mean that even in comparison to other split damage weapons. Of course, things probably get better under somce circumstances.

Ps. To specify, one-handed it is similar in effectivenes to my Balder Side Sword +!5 (unbuffed) against NG+ Undead Parish Hollows and Balder Knights as well as Sen's Fortress Serpent-men (who generally have high defenses but not elemental defenses). Of course it benefits a lot from two-handing.

Dragonslayer spear does roughly more physical than the Demon's Spear, but has less AR so that's moot now. You're right, the two handing beefs up both spears but in short I guess Demon's Spear is going to be the only spear with that range I can use.

Pike at 40/40 quality does 416 physical, so I guess I could work with that.

Remember there are valid-ish ways to buff weapons even with somewhat low mental stats, so that's always an option.

Fire Resin is good for some mobs, and very good in early NG+, but eventually you won't see much of a result (it roughly gives 9 damage on weak attacks against Demon Ruins' Capra Demons, and they're fairly weak to fire). However, Oolacile Catalyst + Strong Magic Weapon (15 int requirement) lands you almost exactly +200 magical attack rating and that's actually useful against quite a few opponents.

Also dragonslayer spear with 24/45. It does ♥♥♥♥♥♥ damage but it's the best weapon to kick with, since it drains a lot more stamina than the rest of the weapons. You can combine it with Black Flame too.

I'm not using pyromancy, plus I'm already at 30/30 atm. Maybe on an Ornstein build I'll try it out.

Personally, I like to use retreating attacks with spears, y'know, roll backwards, make the enemy try to roll catch you, and then rolling R1 away from them.

You missed the joke, but that's ok. You clearly haven't used the pike that much.
