Nightmare mode, really?
Am I missing something here or is Nightmare mode the exact same thing as normal mode without checkpoints?
I expected something like no hints, more/tougher zombies, less hitpoints/ammo or no checkpointing in the middle of a scene. Who calls that a new mode? No wonder I couldn't find any information about it before launch. I would imagine implementing that took 5 minutes.
Who would want to play this anyway? I could understand it if the game had responsive controls, but with the way it is no one will ever make it through the game without getting screwed over by random controlfart somewhere.

I dunno, I enjoyed my way through the game but thought it was too short, thinking "ah well, there still is Nightmare mode to do". Nope.

I feel the same with regards to the controls. I loved the game on my first playthrough but I can't see it being possible making it all the way through the game in one sitting without a death being caused by unresponsive controls somewhere along the line.

I agree. I was actually looking forward to some kind of horde mode too, but I seem to have disappointed myself.

Nightmare Mode is a pain in the ass. Checkpoints only between chapters. The sewer chapter is boring and nearly impossible, too many cheap deaths for my taste. I gave up after tons of retrying. =/

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks Nightmare Mode is ridiculous. After dying in the sewer for the umpteenth time, I just gave up on the notion because it was steadily raising my blood pressure.

If the intention was replicate the 80's games difficulty, at least they could put us with 3 lives per chapter/continue. It's a sugestion, developers! Love the game but Nightmare mode is more than nightmarish. =)

Sewers is the walk in the park. Wait till you get to the helicopter :) Anyway I almost finished the game on Nightmare. Almost!

Here is the thing. When you get to the last part where you escape with girl under gun fire if you or she dies it looks like you begin not from the 3rd chapter, but from the beginning of the game. I am not sure if it was a glitch or it was supposed to be like that, but I couldn't bare to give it another playthrough.

I might try another time, but I'd like to hear if anyone has completed the game on Nightmare?

Oh no, don't say that. I'm almost completing chapter 2, if i die on 3 and get back to 1 i'll quit it forever. And yes, some hero completed on Nightmare, see on Global achievement activity o.O

Ugh, I spent a good few hours mastering the hard parts in preparation for NM, if that bug happens to me I'm going to completely give up lol.

That trick worked for me, i've played the heli part and the final stretch to master it. Finally got it. =)

I was just wrapping up the game (I got all achievements except for the 'Spread the disease' and the 'Nightmare mode' achievements) before starting the Nightmare mode. After having died from clumsy controls a couple of times and getting sent back to the start of chapter 1, I decided to check online if there was a trick to finishing this mode.

When I read this topic and saw the statistics (0.1% of the players got the Nightmare mode achievement, really?), I decided to not even TRY to defeat the Nightmare mode. It seems way too frustrating. I, too, was looking forward to playing the game again, with more difficult (not impossible) settings. This way though, the game is way too short.

I would've tried, but I didn't quite feel like turning into a 'shadow' myself and chewing off my neighbour's head out of anger and frustration...

I finished it in Nightmare eventually. Got to see the alternative ending which is quite interesting.

I must say that it's not that hard after you master a few tricky places to run through. First chapter is easy and hard to die. The secon chapter is annoying because of undeground part and it was challenging for me because of helicopter part. Capter 3 is fast and quite easy as well. You just need to make sure you train to run through the last part as smoothly as you can before you begin you Nightmare challange.

Good luck.

This it was a bug that has been fixed in patch 1.1. Thanks for your support.

The first thing they should have done instead of this half baked 'Nightmare mode' is adding an option to turn off all the visual hints that basically spoil the entire game to new players whether they want it or not. It's the reason I haven't bought the game after trying the 360 demo. Come on Tequila, not all of us are ADHD riddled ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

You can turn off the "object highlighting" and the "hints" from the "Game Settings" menu. But it's turned on by default.
