[SPOILERS] What do you think of the ending?
[SPOILERS]

/

It actually made me tear up, call me dumb but I didn't see it coming. Also, don't bother with the alternate ending. First off, it is only unlocked when you complete Nightmare mode (i.e. you have no life) and is available on Youtube, and EVEN IF YOU DO, what you get is actually a scene that really gives you the impression that all the devs over at Tequila Works are wearing trollface masks and giving you the finger. Dont watch the alternate ending.

That being said, while the original ending did sadden me, I didnt think it sucked. I would have wished for an alternate ending where Randall overcomes his chronic fear of water and actually boards the gawddamn boat.

[SPOILERS] The original ending (I finished the game like 5 minutes ago) wasn't bad. But...you know...i think it could have been better. And the end surprised me too, i would never see that coming. So yeah, the end was alright, but i really liked the character (Randall), to see him pass away like that.

Game is great, but the ending could have been so much better if instead of standing like a stupid cow at the slaughterhouse, he would have tried to stop zombies to buy that chick some time (they should have done it like this).

Agreed. I think the end would have to be "epic". Or epic enough for a game that shows that the main character has some mental stuff. Once again, i didn't like the ending, but i didin't hate it either.

After checking out the alternate ending, the original seems slightly less awful by comparison. Apparently Tequila Works needs a little more help writing satisfying conclusions.

Or maybe its just Spanish mentality to have endings like that that may be perceived as weird by other cultures like ours.

Well when he said that it is painful to think of his daughter and wife, it was already quite obvious for me, that they are dead and he knew it deep inside.
I think the ending was good and bad. A bit inconclusive, leaving me asking a few questions, yet it managed wrapped on some of the ideas that were being carried throughout the game. Such as the constant appearances of his child in his mind and the pain that it caused him everytime he thought of it. It made sense after seeing the ending, as if he knew deep inside like aforementioned. So it's half and half, really.

More support for the ending than I would have thought.

I felt it was very confused. The protaganist yell's a speech about fighting for every moment of life and then turns around and commits suicide.

His commiting suicide makes sense for his own character arc but is hypocritical when juxtaposed with telling another person who has lost everyone to abandon him and keep living.

you are right, it is kinda strange that he doesn`t sail away with her...
just watched the alternate ending (cause i know i`m not gonna play through nightmare mode) and i think it`s al lot more awesome than the normal ending! imagin you actually spend many hours with the protagonist of this game and in the end you find out hes is nothing less than a psychotic killer, proably driven mad by the guilt of killing his familiy while he survived...

Ha awesome! I didn't realize till the OP post why he didn't get on the boat. Actually makes sense now, I just thought he was being stupid or wanted to die. As for the rest of the normal ending, expected most of it, creepy flashbacks/halucinations of the person your searching for always results in the same thing, as far as games go.

well,the alt. ending is wierd.
About SPOILER:Him being a murderer.
Makes kinda no sense.Killing all people he met.

And anyways,I couldn't get it,why did he have a fear of water?

Seriously? you guys didnt see it coming? It's only the most cliche'd ending for a story where a guy is desperately looking for someone that never seems to be where they look. I could make a list of films and other games this has been done in but that would take more time than it took to complete this game to begin with.
The alternate ending at least hasnt been done a thousand times, only a few hundred.
but hey, cheap game, short game, zombie game. can't really expect much

at least he has a fear of water. Look at Assassins creed, or Farcry 3 and you'll see tons of people who die the moment they hit H2O just like Wayne does, except they all happily fall into it

I'm not sure I buy the alternate ending at all. Unless, of course, you assume Stella is crazier than a fruit bat.

The game takes place over two days. It opens with Stella *knowing* that Randall killed her sister. He admits to it. He says he did it because she was bitten. The sister has bite marks. Then zombies attack and the group is separated.

So, the next day she sees him wearing her pendant and screams "what did you do?" (Huh? She's known for 48 hours that he shot her sister) "Why did you do it?" (Huh? She's known for 48 hours that her sister was bitten.)

What is it with these survivors and their memory lapses?

Anyway, I think a "realistic" assumption from Stella would be, "Oh Randall, you saved her pendant for me. Thank you!!!!" Because 99% of the time, that's what it would have meant. In which case, Stella going psycho and killing the person that just rescued her... would make her the psychopath of the story.

Thanks for this thread BTW. There's no chance I would have played nightmare and never guessed that an alternate ending existed.
