Instantly Killed on Spawn

Is there any way to leave one of the puzzle areas once you enter, other than making it to the end? I've made it through two levels of this area with moving lasers, but then I went through a portal, stepped off of the portal and got hit by a revolving laser beam and died. When I hit the respawn button, it spawns me on top of the portal I just came through and then warps me back to the level I came from where there is an oscillating laser that sweeps over the portal tile, so I end up dying before I can even...

ADDITIONS / CHANGES

Added more sound effects (including laser sounds)
Added a tutorial panel animation (making it more obvious there is a tutorial when loading in)
Added ruin puzzle hints (some players were getting stuck trying to solve them)
Improved player movement animation
Added loading screen tips
Reworked teleporter triggers (they no longer teleport you back when staying still on them)
Removed biome sounds and effects while in ruins
Improved some upgrade icons
Added fireflies
Added some holiday cheer to the main menu
Added a limited-edition holiday accessory
