Dig site : what's your method?

UPDATE : I don't dig much now that I'm at year 3, but digging helped me earlier in the game. Thanks for your shares, but no need to share anymore since I don't go digging much.

Hello everyone,

At year one, I was able to dig all 12 dig holes. But, now that I'm at year two, there's no way I can dig all of them. What's your strategy?

Here's mine, although I don't know yet if I keep it : I begin by digging the holes already uncovered because I know that the treasure is not far away. After that, I begin digging 4-6 times each hole until I see a treasure. If it's not a golden object, I don't dig further and go onto another hole. The first time I did that, I dug two golden objects (I wouldn't have got the second one if I'd have dig the other treasures uncovered). The second day, I got only one golden object, so I'm now questioning my strategy.

The reason of this strategy : if you add up the price of all treasures found (but the golden objects), it can't be better than the 1000/1500$ for the golden objects, so I ignore the other treasures and keep searching for the golden ones.

What's your strategy? Do you have tips to improve my strategy?

I don't know what the optimal strategy is. I just dig in the same hole the entire time, and that works for me.

Year 2 I don't do digsite that much. I just peek inside and if I see an uncovered gold I start digging then dig all uncovered items. Year 2 is very important for child-rearing so I focus on that instead.
The only thing that can really affect your digsite loot is luck.
If the chihuahua is around that means digsite has increased luck.
I'm not sure about the luck reading if it affects your luck in digsite.
Also you can just dig the same spot indefinitely.

Carter will usually start at 10AM and If you follow Carter he will always look at the gold holes. When he kneels or walks see what direction he is looking and dig. If you find junk in the first dig gold will follow. Also while digging or looking when you see the three close gold dots in a triangle, separated gold parts, or a light circular item it will be gold. Plus if I see the three gold dots I will leave those and try and uncover more. Then about 3:30 go for the ones you know. I get a lot of gold items that way.

I'm at year 4 and I really don't care about the digging site. When I happen to go, I just dig things that are already appearing to be something valuable, like golden spots or that greenish statues.
