Do you buy your animals or breed for them?
At first, I just saved up and bought them, but after finally being able to afford the barn and coop expansion, I have been just letting them breed on their own. I do save scum, though, to make sure that I have the girls that I want.

no shame in wanting to save a lot of time and money from an rng element in a single player game :)

I personally am breeding and save scumming as its massively cheaper.

im breeding for sheep number 3 then will breed my cows. does breeding normal with star give a chance of the cow being marble or brown like the old game?

unsure. I heard that it was 40% like dad and 60% like mom but idk if those are accurate numbers.

I did some digging, and I found this:
https://youtu.be/MDqeg7BmiAU?t=364
If you breed a female cow with the same breed of bull, you will only get that breed.
If you breed a female cow with another breed of bull, you will have a 60% chance of the calf coming out being the same breed as the mother and a 40% chance of the calf coming out being the same breed as the father. But, you could always save scum to get the gender and breed that you want.

I want to breed my animals at least once, just to have the experience of caring for a young animal. After that I'll sell the male and just buy them.
I have tried both breeding and buying. The most efficient at the beginning would be buying female cows/chicken. you can sell them anytime and get male when you want to start breeding.

I'm in WI Yr1 and am just getting into it. I have a pregnant sheep currently. It happened naturally after I bought the male. Male sheep still give wool, so that is a plus for them vs. a cow. I recently purchased a Male Star Cow and he is just now grown, but it won't allow me to breed because it is too close to the sheep giving birth. I am going to scum save until I get a female star baby once I do breed them. I think I am going to fill up the barn mostly with Star Cows. S level milk is $520. At a minimum, $2080 a day. I will probably buy a Marble and Brown cow at some point for Cheese and Butter. Also at least one goat.

I don't blame you for save scumming; I do that as well.

From what I've seen, breeding them is pointless at least for the base 'cow.' The more expensive ones, just because of their cost, I think it would be worth it.

Chickens it's totally worth having a rooster. Fertilized eggs are worth 50% more. So 150G instead of 100G. One male chicken triggers a random chance for ALL female chickens in the coop to lay a fertilized egg. So you can buy one male, and have all the rest female and the male just = extra money randomly for just having it around.

Not so fast. It is cheaper to buy a bull for the cow. I am making it a goal to have at least three different cows in my barn. I am sure that I am not going to go for star cow. It still cheaper just to breed them. I sold my first bull for half the price of the full price. It not loss but it is. I think that if person breed with Taka option it not worth it you get the same cow back I believe.
