Im not saying this looks like a bad game at all but this is literally a carbon copy of the harvest moon for the gamecube. Has anyone else noticed this?

It is the real deal, no copy from anyone. They just want it to remake and add a few new things.

the name is different because of complicated company reasons. its a remake, not a copy. a very faithful remake at that.

Yes, because this is Harvest Moon. Natsume, the old publishers, have the copywrite to the name, but the developers have the rights to the games themselves.

Thus, Story of Seasons is the new Harvest Moon series, while Harvest Moon is now Natsume trying to profit off of the name brand recognition.

i certainly would hope so since the developers of the old harvest moon are the ones that did this remake. But callign this a "copy" shows ya dont know the history of the games well, and what happened between natsume the localization publisher for the west and marvelous the series owner and developer

It's not a carbon copy, actually; it's a remake with some quality of life changes. The only issues I have are some of the changes to names and appearances, and I miss the realism with breeding cows for milk and animal death.

Its almost like...it is? The people who make story of seasons are the same people who used to make harvest moon- but as of now Natsume owns the title harvest moon so thats why its Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (a remake of the old gamecube one by the people woh made it)

It's remake... The name was changed because now original Harvest Moon is named Story of Seasons. And new Harvest Moon games by Natsume aren't real Harvest Moons.

I wish they would update the fidelity or style at least, it does look like that hasnt changed much since HM save the homeland on ps2... but I suppose if the audience likes it the way it is then why bother other than adding a few new features and slapping on a new title?

I wish it was, but it’s not. There are a few nice QoL changes, but they also removed and changed a lot of things that made the original more gritty and realistic.

Also, I just realized this after watching a streamer: beyond forcing you to have an androgynous body and introducing more inclusive language to the game, they removed gendered pronouns from the animals… the animals are treated like objects now.

20 years ago, if your hen hatched a male/female offspring, Nik, Nak, and Flak would say “what should we name him/her?” Now they say “what should we name it?”

It feels like a stab in the heart to treat animals like that, man…

if you played the originals you would know the male/female player character had the same proportions anyway so the adrogynous bodies arent really different, plus the huge addition of player customization completely justifies any grievances with that anyways (something they didnt HAVE to add)

also there is nothing wrong with calling a baby animal it, the gender of the animal is blatant when you buy them or they are born, and its more accurate to call a chick by "it" or "them" instead of he/her in real life anyway since there are literally people payed to identify the sex of chickens its not exactly obvious.

also the obvious inclusion that this game is heavily translated and not everything is gonna paste over smoothly. the mere fact they are capable of using pronouns correctly is a miracle

Still, the female body in Another Wonderful Life was visibly and obviously female, despite the bodies seeming almost identical. She had breasts and slightly wider hips. Idk why that's such a taboo to say. I just don't understand why we have to erase women in order to be more inclusive.

Edit: @Ritsuka, I'm getting a defensive feeling from you. Hope I can make it clear that I love this series and want it to reach its full potential. My criticism comes from a place of admiration and hope for this series to reclaim its title as the king of farming sims.

the outfit the female character was a lot tighter, tight pants and shirt, but a jacket on the hips. this gives the impression of a different build. but in reality the only difference was that the female character had her legs crossed a bit for a feminine look.

the default outfits in this remake express that less because the male outfit is a lot skinnier and tighter than the old games. the only real difference here is that the characters share the same animations.

but i dont really understand why ppl are getting upset by the adrogynous model tbh. if you choose the another wonderful life outfit and use a feminine haircut you straight up look like a girl. same for the a wonderful life outfit and a male haircut. looks like a guy. (just cause you dont have the option for very visible tits doesnt make the character not feminine there are other aspects to a feminine character yknow?)

and there is nothing taboo with saying any of that, its just not really a problem.

That's a complaint I have as well; it's awkward to play a female who gets married and has a kid, and she looks as young if not younger than Year 1 Lumina.

Why are you just straight up lying?

They refer to the animals with gendered pronouns all the time and let you know if the baby is a boy or girl.

It so weird that you claim to hate the game but won't stop stalking the forums to spread bs.
