Does Natsume know this company ripped their whole game?
Title and all, "Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life" was a game released on the gamecube by Natsume. just from the trailer alone I see this game was a 100% rip and re-release under the same sub-title.

Not sure if you're serious but Marvelous (creators of Harvest Moon) and Natsume (ex-localizers of Harvest Moon) split, so Marvelous had to rename harvest moon to story of seasons. So Marvelous/Story of Seasons are the legit developers and this is a remake. Natsume make their own games which tend to be uhh worse.

alright, I didn't know about the split, I saw this game being posted and it just set off flags.

It's actually quite funny, because natsume are the ones who are cashing in on the name "harvest moon" with terrible mobile port games. ever since marvelous and natsume split, all new harvest moon games have been trash mobile port games. they just want to make easy money by using the name.

It's really sad that it happened, but ah well they can keep beating that husk until it finally collapses
At least the real devs are still continuing the actual game, even if it's been renamed :heartmia:

Not yet.
They did remake Friends of Mineral Town, though.
(Which does technically use the cast of 64, with some changes)

Appropriately called "Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town".
----------

And yeah, OP, Marvelous have always been the creators of the series (and also are the publishers in Japan).... er, sort of.

Harvest Moon SNES was made by a group called "Pack-In".
Which later merged with a company called Victor Software. And they ended up making 64, Back to Nature, and A Wonderful Life.

They were then bought by Marvelous in 2003, who have made the series since then.

And in 2014, Marvelous decided to end their relationship with publisher/translator Natsume, and use their own American publishing brand, XSeed, to publish and translate the series outside Japan.
At that time, they also decided to change the series name from the one the publisher Natsume had given it, and instead now call the series "Story of Seasons".
(Which is a bit closer to its Japanese name, which roughly translates as "Ranch Story")

(As for the HM games made after 2013, Natsume still owns the rights to that name, but just the name. So they made their own "rip-off".
You actually had it the other way around, OP)

Thank you history gamers! I didn't know this and was always confused by the whole SOS and HM going back and forth. Kept thinking they were buying the rights to those games and remaking them as SoS games, which they are making sooo much better and modern but still keeping the childhood memories lol.

Why’d you guys have to go and tell him?

Note that the original creator of the series left Marvelous back around Tree of Tranquility anyway, so in a way, neither is the "real" Harvest Moon. And I think it shows, honestly.

Actually, series creator Yasuhiro Wada was there for Animal Parade and even Rune Factory Frontier. (He made the first two RF games)
His last game with them was Harvest Moon: My Little Shop, on Wiiware.

He then left, worked with another company briefly, and then founded a company called ToyBox, and made a few more games. Including Hometown Story, Birthdays the Beginning, and Little Dragons Cafe.

That was it. He stepped down from Executive for AP, though.
Kinda hope we see a RFF port some day, with the QOLs of later games. Don't get me wrong, RF4 is one of my favorite games, but I think you can see a tonal shift with those and the first Story of Seasons games.

Oh that explains why Little Dragon Cafe is such a massive treasure! Thank you I never realised that!
