Hello. My computer overheats and it lags a lot when I play. I think the problem is the parts in my computer, they are too lame. Do not know if this is the case with your computer, but I can not play because of it .. Have you tried to lower the settings to the lowest?

Umm if its an overheating problem, get one of those air spray cans and spray it into the fan it will MAJORLY help a overheating problem

No, if your computer is overheating it means you either built it improperly, or it was never meant for gaming. Drop settings to lowest possible, crank up your fan speeds and test again. If it works, it means you need a new case and new fans. If it doesn't, new components.

What Windows are you running? as I am running this on a lappy with just a HD Intel graphics chip and had no issues. If it crashes consistantly while launching the game then its not an issue with the machine being powerful enougth to run it, sounds more like either a corrupt driver or incompatiblity issue with hardware. We do need more information, I have had issues with past Radeon cards and certain games which caused it to crash for no obvious reason. Usually I ended up having to find a patch specific to the game for radeon cards.

If its a desktop, and it forces the machine to reboot then most likely the issue is hardware or drivers rather it being software.

darn that kindof bums me out... o well it was only 5 bucks so shouldnt be that big of an issue i think i will research some patches or something but if it doesnt end up working then i will just get on with my life, thanks for the help everybody :)

This might be a jumping-off point for you Penguin. Especially starting it in windowed mode to see first if it runs, and then if it does, to change some of the settings that may be causing the issue. Usually if a computer is restarting it is a "stop error" where the system encountered a bug at the hardware layer and is restarting automatically after the crash. It's sometimes a driver error. To shut off auto restart, go into the control panel, click on system, then click on advanced settings. Under Startup and Recovery click on settings. Under system failure uncheck the "automatically restart" button. Also see that there's a check mark in the "write an event ot the system log" box. This way you can look at the system log to potentially see what is causing the crash. To find this, click on the start button (I'm assuming your running Vista or Windows 7) type event. You should see event viewer, event logs and view location activity show up. click on the event logs to view those, and see what you find. Not sure, but you may have to restart windows for the changes to take effect. Hopefully you find your problem. Fear 3 is a killer game IHO. Send me a message about what you find out.

For me the game doesn't resart my computer. The game just crashes either right after I start it or shortly after I start playing.

Figured out that the game is making my display drivers crash.

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it? Got 570gtx+ classified drivers are up to date.

Okay people I got it to work and this is how I did it.
1) I installed the DIRECT X that is in the game folder.
C:/program files(x86)/steam/steamapp/common/f.e.a.r 3/redist/directx/DXSETUP.
2) Next you need to lower your GPU core clock speed to about 740MHz. I have mine set to
742MHz. I believe changing the GPU core clock to a lower speed is what did,

If by some chance it's still not working I also did this thing I had to do to get Crysis to work
1) Go into the F.E.A.R folder and create a sortcut of the Fear.exe file.
C:/program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/f.e.a.r 3
3)Put that shortcut on ur desktop. Then right click the shortcut and click properties.
4)Then click the shortcut tab then click the Target field.
Leave everything in the target field as is but at the end after F.E.A.R.".exe" part
Put in a space after the quotes then add '-dx9' (include the appostraphes and the dash)
5) Apply changes and use this shortcut to run the game.
