Fear 3 - Worst game in the series?

Well i have been playing throug all fear games the last 3 days
fear 1 + both addons (yes i know the addons story does not fit with the rest of the games)
fear 2 + reborn
and fear 3
well if i should rate the games by marks from 1(top) - 6(what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)
i would say:
Fear 1 - 1 (cool atmosphere, lots of shocking moments)
extraction point - 2 (good atmosphere the more u come closer to the end of the game)
mission perseus - 5 (wtf happened? u are just shooting the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ whole game! where are the shocking moments????)
Fear 2 - 1 (cool atmosphere, elementary school was the best i pissed my pants O.O)
reborn - 4 (just shooting again, i was bored after 2. mission...)
Fear 3 - 6 ( well what should i say... wtf !? graphics are even worse then fear 2, no shocking moments as well.. absolutly nothing. You are just shooting shooting shooting... and so on. after every 30 meters of progressing throug the missions a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ door is closing behind you, so u cant get back.. wtf? why? and wtf this achievement system is a bad joke. Not only does it influence the playingstyle greatly its just redicilous to grant an achievement for sitting behind a wall for 200 seconds... about the atmosphere i had in the better fear games.. well i had none of the feelings i had like in fear 2 when i was walking slowly trough the endless dark hallways in the elementary school, beeing afraid that alma could come around the corner any second to rape my ass xD.. no seriously in fear 3 you can at least.. well.. shoot xD! thats not what FEAR stands for after the 3. mission i was just thinking: ok i will just run trough the game as fast as possible by well .. shooting shooting shooting xD to just witness the last video scene, so i get at least the storypart of the game ..
the only thing that i was afraid of while playing fear 3 was that they could make a fear 4 thats even worse... if thats possible..

I have also played all of the FEAR franchise, except FEAR3 which to me from the Gameplay and trailers I have seen, seems to be kinda cool, if your not going to play it any longer, or you dont even want it anymore....would u like to trade?

Btw, FEAR2 + Expansion were the best!, the Nuclear bomb part was really awesome and the primary school.

Perseus mandate is a stand alone story, where the main reason you are not shocked often is because you are a meaningless character for Alma. If there were a lot of scary Alma moments a simple question would rise: why doesn't she kill you? And thats why probably its different. I kinda liked it. Apart from this I completely agree with you. The first one was the best by far, the extraction point had story issues but was decent, the sequel was brilliant just as the original. I didn't play reborn, but I guess I didn't miss anything. And well.. Fear 3 does poorly in story (I should say terrible in story) and in atmosphere. That being said, the action, the shooting part in co-op is actually decent, although is ridicously easy even in insane. The graphics well.. its okay for me because I usually dont really care about them, but other visuals: Fettel's face is horrible, I couldnt stand watching it. Theres also a point where the madmen attacks you from holes leading to black nothing. It was clearly rushed out to get some money as the end of the series. In the end what bothered me the most is the story (the story is which made me a fan of the first game), the ending.. absouletly no sence, like they forgot what the previous games was all about.

If I want to rate them as you (although I never rate games) it would something like this:
Fear 1 - 1
Fear 1 Extraction point - 3 (story issues)
Fear 1 Perseus Mandate - 2
Fear 2 - 1
Fear 2 Reborn - ?
Fear 3 - 5 (only the co-op can save the game.. honestly I would probably just quit it because I couldnt stand how they were destroying the story if it wasnt for the co-op)

I agree with everything said. My rating is exactly the same as XむそうかX above. Fear 2 Reborn I would give 4, it also has major story issues which are not consistent with FEAR 3. (it has no narration or story flow anyway, it simply makes no sense, like Extraction Point.).

Yup it is.

Played 1 and LOVED it! The two add ons were great as well in my eyes, the change of pace in Perseus Mandate I actually liked, especially as already had been stated, you played another character who wasn't directly related to the main storyline (that's why I also like Phoenix, it told an interesting story part from Fear 1 in another angle which closed an open question in a great way)

Fear 2 already startet swapping the subtle horror of Fear 1 (which was GREAT and is actually the only kind of horror that indeed CAN scare me ((♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that last level when ALL the lights turned out O_O )) with cheap "quick scare attacks" which leave me pretty unimpressed and added way more action. But a great UI, outstanding visuals and a mostly interesting & logical story as well as diverse gameplay made totally up for that, I still wanted to know how it all ends.

And then there is F.E.A.R. 3.....I just reinstalled it to finally play it, was totally looking forward to do so, started it...

....and wondered if the game was actually developed by chinese software pirates on their NES o.O I mean, seriously....

- Graphics almost worse than F.E.A.R. 1
- Over and over and over slapped together copy & paste levels unlike F.E.A.R. 2 which had mostly only unique areas (given, F.E.A.R. 1 was C&P a lot too, but given it's age and that it made up in other areas for that excuses F1)
- The great & accessible Interface F2 had, click Mouse 3 for an Overlay of ALL your weapons & grenades and chose them quick and comfortable...completely cutted out of F3, for whatever reason o.O
- Challenging, but always fair and adrenaline pumping fights in great enviroments that F1 & 2 had..replaced by effing wave combat round after wave combat round, making the game almost feel like a cheap Lightgun Shooter without a Lightgun
- WTF happend to Fettel? 30 years younger all of a sudden and a stupid appereance like from a B-Movie....actually no, I'd put B-Movies to shem stating it like that
- What happend to Datapads / Readable background info or collectibles at all?
- Point Man....if THAT'S the look of the guy we played in F1.....a trained elite soldier of a special unit....yeah right....why don't we take my grandpa as the games main villain...

Man, I could go on for hours what F3 did wrong to be a total abomination of the franchise...but I guess you all get the gist.

Dunno if I'll play this one to the end...it feels like the developers are permanently ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over my KB&M whenever I start it up >_>

FEAR 3 wasn't scarey at all which, for a game that is supposed to be horror-based is a total failure. FEAR 1 and 2 were class though

The whole series felt like it was propped up on a jump scare crutch and got boring as it ran its course. Which is pretty much what I say about Dead Space 1 - 3. Silent Hill Homecoming - Downpour, Amnesia, Resident Evil 4 - 6.

I think game developers need to learn again how to FINISH a story once and for all and for good and not milking it for the sake of money

It's probably the worst game in the series, yes, but I don't think it's such a bad game. I mean, it's fun as hell, as long as you're playing it through in COOP.

I'm actually about to start my second run of the game, and just posted a thread inviting you guys to add me so we can make some time.

Also, I think Fear 1 is just..... g-. Wait.

Garbage. Honestly. I played it when it first came out, didn't think it was scary at all. AT ALL. It was so lame.

The MP in that game was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beastly, though.
