check SteamRemoteStorage - https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
if there is no savefiles for that game, then it means the game doesn't support Steam Cloud (or developers f-up the code)
game stores its savefiles in one of the two folders (depending on your settings):
I do believe that in-game savefiles are encrypted to be used in your Steam account only (because of the in-game leaderboard)
Thank you for your help :)
- I have looked in my steam remotestorage, Fear 3 is missing
- In the steam\userdata\<user-id>\21100\local\ folder i have tried to replace it with another user's save file, but nothing is happening in game.
It seems that i ll have to start again the whole game.
yeah, it seems the only possible way
Cloud does not seem to work for this game. I played solo campaing long time ago and then coop with a friend to complete the game again. It was years ago. All achievos completed.
I launch the game on Nov 29th 2022 - today....and no savefiles.
Using other player's savefiles does not seem to work either.
What a load of ♥♥♥♥ if you ask me. I lost all my stats. I should have made manual backup to some Cloud drive.
the very same issue occurs in various Steam games, for example Spyro The Reignited Trilogy.
in past year since that thread I learned that in SteamWorks (developers' framework to manage Steam games) they can set up to ten different folders for savefiles. why? for example if the game is DRM-free then it can utilize one folder to store the savefiles and for Steam-DRM use an other place. or use different places for different OS
SteamWorks provides various condition flags for that - and it seems that publishers can mess those flags in some weird and stupid way. for example set one savefile path to be synced with Cloud and not set the other one and it can lead to, well, above mentioned issues
so, yes, it seems that publishers of FEAR3 f-up the Steam Cloud. better to disable for that game
PS, players can also use Gamesave Manager for offline backup of all savefiles across all launchers/installs. quite a handful alternative for Steam Cloud
