mapbase: map is fullbright but no leaks and there is lighting
i am making a map for mapbase, and for some weird reason the map is stuck on fullbright.

ive already checked that there are no leaks, and the map has lighting (light_environment too). and in fact its just a renamed vmf from a map that already worked fine with no significant changes (just moved a few entities slightly.)

any idea why its stuck on fullbright in-game?

Probably best to keep map files closer to the root drive, rather than in program files in the future.

See if mat_fullbright 0 makes a difference.

it doesnt make a difference at all; and other maps compiled from the same directory work fine.

What game are you mapping for? Maybe I could take a look at the map, because the log looks fine to me.

mapbase; which is an extension of hl2:episode 2.

see: https://www.moddb.com/mods/mapbase

i figured it out though: the map in question only uses one material; which i realized was using an sdk shader from mapbase that isnt present for some odd reason, therfor rendering fullbright.

the solution will be to figure out how to use the official mapbase mod template better since the one i used is apparently no good.

EDIT: final solution found. i didnt install the mapbase compilers correctly before; and they provide the support needed for custom shaders. fixed.
