using 3d skybox.

could you be more precise ?
Best way: 3D skybox
Easiest way: Fog
"It works"-iest way: Tilting the water a bit upward at the end

A 3D-skybox magnifies smaller objects, to make background objects longer/gigantic

Valve used method in coast levels to make skybox water to certain distance and it seemed to be infinite but it really wasnt

3kliksphilipp had this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CouO4tqxrg Which kind of looks like what you want and there is a vmf to download for (from the description) https://www.mediafire (dot) com/?r777901zu25wdsa (copy and paste this link into your browser, it probably won't work in the Steam client)

Also one of the coast levels (from "Sand Traps") official map sources (.vmf) by Valve is in available in the old Source SDK. Steam >Tools >Source SDK.

Start it up. Click on "Refresh SDK Content" (this will take 1-2 minutes). And "Close" when it has finished.

You will now find the map sources files of several Source engine games in:
..\Steam\steamapps\common\sourcesdk_content\hl2\mapsrc\

("sourcesdk_content" not "SourceSDK"!)

The file is sdk_d2_coast_12.vmf Hope it might help!
