You can´t just simply coppy and paste it since its a whole new file format (Vmap) with different contains in it
The Source 2 Hammer has an importer for .vmf files.
Iv'e managed to the export a map from the L4D2 tools to Destinations, but it's super buggy. It doesn't seem to do any optimization on the brushes, it just converts every single brush into a mesh without culling hidden sides, and importing maps with a lot of brushes tends to make Hammer eat up all the memory reandomly and crash.
If you want to export a map, Id suggest trying exporting the .vmf from the different Hammer versions in different games. Some of them seem to work worse.
The only thing which i could try now is import the map to source sdk, wrap it all up to a model in propper, export to fbx and import to source 2 xP
or load the map in an older hammer editor > change a small thing in the map and save it under a new name. that works form me to use the map in source 2.
If you are importing csgo maps to CS2/Counter-Strike 2 the above fix worked for me. Just open the VMF you are trying to import into CSGO hammer editor first, then adjust something and rename it and it should now import just fine. Weird stuff, but thanks!
