Cs crashes when I try to upload Bsp file (CSGO SDK)
When I open the workshop publish menu and select the bsp file the game just crashes. This happens with all other map files too. When the game crashes it just gives me this error:

Engine error
Error opening C:\Program Files (x86)\CSMAPS\de_outpost.bsp! (check for write enable)

Does anyone get this or know how to fix it?

Alright so I found the fix. You have to upload the .bsp file from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\maps

hope this helps if you have this problem

That's what worked for me the past year, I don't really know what else might work. Where are you putting the bsp file after compiling?

I'm sorry I know this is old, but what do you mean "put the bsp file after compiling." ? Don't you just have to save the map and then it does it automatically or what. I'm having problems and there really is nothing on the internet that's up to date so this is more for other people searching, and myself of course.

When you compile a map, it creates a BSP file in the same location as the vmf. For me, it would be in a folder on my desktop because that's where my VMF files are. It doesn't matter where the vmf files are located but you have to put the BSP file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\maps directory.
Then you when you do workshop_publish you would pick the BSP file in the "csgo\maps" directory.

At least that's what worked for me when I got that error, If this still doesn't work I can still try to help.

just got the SDK, nothing from this thread's helped, the .bps file is in the right directory and the game still crashed, tell me to check write perms when it already has write perms ;p
